00:00Let's take a look at whose fantasy football fate changed the most with this NFL offseason.
00:12You get into a groove during a 17-game NFL season, and if you have a smart league,
00:18a 16-game fantasy football season, but a lot of that groove can change once the offseason hits.
00:26So today, gonna look back at the NFL offseason and see whose fantasy football destiny changed based on how the offseason went.
00:36Let's start with the guys whose fantasy football outlook improved based off of the moving and shaking in the NFL.
00:45And it begins with my boys, the Vegas Raiders.
00:48I think that there is a lot more buzz and a lot more reason for optimism around Brock Bowers because of who he has at quarterback.
00:58Bowers was a legitimate number one tight end option, and really is a lot of people's pick as just tight end one on the season.
01:08So I think that there is a lot of that buzz because he was able to do all of that last year with Aiden O'Connell as his quarterback.
01:19Geno Smith, greater than sign, Aiden O'Connell.
01:22Even the worst version of Geno Smith is better than Aiden O'Connell.
01:26So this is, I think, a fantastic situation to get excited about with Bowers.
01:32To the point where it is probably taking his draft value beyond where I would be comfortable drafting him.
01:37But this is, there's a lot to be excited about with the Raider tight end this season.
01:41And then to that point, I think that Geno Smith has worked his way into a better fantasy spot.
01:47Because while the Raiders offensive line is not what you would call good,
01:52it is certainly what you would call better than what Seattle was trotting out a season ago where Geno was running for his life.
01:58And so I think just to have something that resembles protection around him this year is going to make life a little bit easier.
02:05He does not have the weapons he had a year ago.
02:07But I think you have to feel a little bit better about Geno going into fantasy with the option of Brock Bowers,
02:12the checkdowns to Ashton Gentry, and an offensive line that can still be a little Swiss cheesy.
02:18But one that is better than what he was playing behind last year.
02:23Also, I think Malik Neighbors.
02:24It was tough to have a better season than he did a year ago.
02:28But he has a significant upgrade at quarterback.
02:32And I don't even think Russell Wilson's that good.
02:34But I would take him throwing me footballs over Daniel Jones and the rest of the guys that were trotting out there for the Giants last year.
02:40I would much rather have Russell Wilson in this spot.
02:44And so you have neighbors who, from all accounts, has all-world talent.
02:50And you feel very, very confident in his abilities.
02:54Now he has a quarterback who, at the very least, can get him the ball in a spot where he can catch it and do some damage with it.
03:00I think the sky is the limit for Malik Neighbors.
03:05Conrad very much disagrees in the chat.
03:08Tony DeVito.
03:10Greater than sign.
03:11Russell Wilson.
03:11Yes, no, the guy who all of a sudden got too famous for appearances at New York pizza places.
03:21You know what?
03:22I still think Russell Wilson greater than sign.
03:24I still think Russ is a little bit better than our boy DeVito out there for the Giants last season.
03:30So, I, um, look, I think it's a great spot for Malik Neighbors.
03:34And he is someone who I'm hoping to be able to get my hands on early in drafts.
03:39Another one is Justin Fields.
03:41He is off to the New York Jets.
03:44I think he's the, like, he's, I don't think, I know, he's the guy now with New York.
03:48This is the first time in a while that a team has put this type of responsibility in his hands.
03:56And so, I think that, look, there's going to be a lot that is expected of him.
04:02And also, there's going to be a lot of eyes on him to see if he can actually be that guy with a football team.
04:08But I do think when you look at the weapons around, I think a lot of people are overlooking the Jets this year
04:15because of how rough it was last year.
04:17But we have talked about it a couple of times and will continue to talk about it this year.
04:21I don't think Aaron Rodgers was very good.
04:23And so, I think that, like, the Brees Hall concern, yeah, it's probably going to be a 1A, 1B situation in that backfield.
04:31But Brees Hall is still really good.
04:32And if it's not him, it's Braylon Allen, who is an absolute tank.
04:36And then if it's not him, you have Garrett Wilson and a talented receiver room with the Jets
04:42and then some tight ends that you're comfortable with in getting the football to them.
04:46So, I think that there is actually a pretty good opportunity for Justin Fields to have a pretty good year.
04:54Like, I just, I feel like just in general, people are sleeping on the Jets a little bit.
04:58Everyone last year with the Aaron Rodgers situation was like,
05:00hey, look at this roster, look how great everyone is on this team.
05:04Aaron Rodgers doesn't need to be Aaron Rodgers of old.
05:06He just needs to be able to guide this team with his strength and wisdom and mushrooms or whatever
05:12and lead this team to the promised land.
05:16Didn't work, because Aaron Rodgers sucked.
05:18But I think we forget, that good roster, maybe overstated, but that good roster's still there.
05:24That good defense, still there.
05:26They just have a coach who knows what the hell he's doing now.
05:28That good offense, still there.
05:29They just have a culture that they know what they are doing there.
05:32I think Justin Fields, I wouldn't want him to be just my only quarterback,
05:36but he's probably someone I'm taking a shot on later in drafts as a bit of a lottery ticket,
05:41hoping that that will work itself out.
05:44Another situation that got better, Javante Williams with the Cowboys.
05:47He moves from Denver to Dallas.
05:52And I think when they signed him and Miles Sanders, it was,
05:54okay, well, then they're definitely going to draft a running back.
05:57And they didn't really address that in the draft.
05:59And so now you have Javante, who was coming off of an injury last year,
06:03who was part of what ended up being a three or four headed attack out in Denver.
06:09Now he is going to a spot where all he has to do is beat out Miles Sanders.
06:14I feel good about that.
06:15He is a full year removed away from injury.
06:17He is on a team that we don't know what the offense is going to look like,
06:22but they have had some success with running backs in the past.
06:24So I think that this ended up being a very good situation for Javante Williams.
06:29And I don't know how many other situations he could have ended up in where I would have viewed him
06:35as a draftable potential guy in any kind of a backfield.
06:42And then the last one, whose stock rose, is Isaac Garendo.
06:47Like, he is the clear, if he can stay healthy, and there are some injury concerns now,
06:51but if he can stay healthy, he's the clear RB2 in San Francisco behind Christian McCaffrey,
06:56who is coming off of an injured season, and hasn't exactly been the pinnacle of health in his time.
07:04And so, like, San Francisco could have easily gone out and got one of the guys who we talked about
07:08in the backfield with the Cowboys, and brought them in as the number two.
07:12But instead, Garendo saw Mason go out the door, and now he is just there in an offense that, again,
07:18is very good for running backs.
07:20Saw Debo go out, so some of those RB carries that were frustratingly going to him,
07:25those are gone now.
07:26This situation lined up perfectly for Garendo.
07:29And just talking about it, kind of an honorable mention, would be Ricky Pearsall,
07:32where Ayuk, you don't know how much you're going to get from him this season.
07:35Debo Samuel, he gone.
07:37Brock Purdy, sticking around.
07:39Fat and happy with a new contract.
07:40Ricky Pearsall, like, he has, obviously, CMC and Kittle to still kind of compete with.
07:45But in terms of those wide receiver targets,
07:47a whole lot has just opened up in the world of Ricky Pearsall.
07:51Things are always changing around Couch Potato Diary,
07:54so make sure you follow me on social media.
07:56I am at PrimetimeKline on Instagram, X, TikTok, Threads, Blue Sky,
08:01all of the places where people are on social media.
08:04I'm there, and at PrimetimeKline.
08:07Back in the chat, we have Conrad saying,
08:10I'm calling GDP to tell him you're anti-Italian with that take, PK.
08:14Yes, no, that's the takeaway from that for sure,
08:17is that Tony DeVito is not just representative of himself in the battle with Russell Wilson,
08:23but Italians in New York and across the world.
08:26And thusly, I hate all of them.
08:28No, obviously not the case.
08:29But yes, no, in that particular one, eh, not necessarily.
08:34But yeah, no, I, man, I've had, like, everyone got really excited with the Italian gifts and everything with Andrew Mangiapani.
08:42Then I shit on that guy for like a year and a half before the Flames traded him.
08:44So you might be on to something.
08:46We'll see.
08:47They have a very good soccer team, though.
08:48So I will say that.
08:49Let's now go to the guys who the offseason was not kind to their fantasy football stock.
08:56And we'll start with JSN, Jackson Smith and Jigba, who, hey, look, on the upside,
09:04he's the number one guy in Seattle right now.
09:08On the downside, I do think that defenses are going to be able to focus on him.
09:14I think he's very talented, and I think he will be okay.
09:17But I think defenses are going to be able to focus on him probably quite aggressively.
09:22And also, I think they have a downgrade at the quarterback spot with Sam Darnold.
09:27And I believe that, or I don't believe that Darnold is going to be able to handle the problems with the offensive line
09:33with the same effectiveness that Geno Smith did.
09:36I think this could be a really bad year for Seattle.
09:40And I think it is more likely that Jalen Milrow is starting games for this team
09:44than it is that they're going to be a playoff team.
09:46So if any of that plays out in that way, this is a bad year for Jackson Smith and Jigba.
09:52And you guys know how high I was on him last season.
09:56It was probably too much.
09:58I think it kind of paid off.
10:00But I have some concerns about him this year.
10:03Other one is Ramondre Stevenson.
10:05The Pats draft a running back and everyone loving Henderson.
10:10And so one of the things with Ramondre last year was, well, he kind of has the backfield to himself.
10:15He doesn't this year.
10:16And the guy who he is sharing it with just burned past everyone in the District of Columbia
10:22for a kick return touchdown.
10:24The first time he touched an NFL football in an actual game.
10:28Actual to whatever extent you can call preseason an actual game.
10:31So, yeah, not great.
10:34The weapons around may have improved.
10:37So I don't think it is going to be Ramondre by default this season with New England.
10:42And while I think that there is a talented football player in there,
10:45I still have some concerns about what his workload and target share is going to be for the upcoming season.
10:53CJ Stroud is another one.
10:55I think this kid is incredibly talented.
10:58But they had a bad offensive line and they traded the one good piece off of it.
11:03And I don't think that they recovered in a very effective manner around that one.
11:09So that's not great.
11:10Um, last year you were going into the season with Nico Collins, Tank Dell, and Stefan Diggs.
11:16Dell, he ain't coming back this year.
11:18And if it is, it's going to be very late and you can't expect a whole lot out of that guy.
11:21Diggs, it would be weird if he came back.
11:23He's a patriot now.
11:24You replace that with Christian Kirk, who, while I'm not a big Diggs guy in 2025,
11:29he would be three of three out of those guys.
11:33And Dell, at the moment, has one functioning leg.
11:36So that is where I'm at on Christian Kirk.
11:38So I think the weapons got worse, but it's fine because the offensive line got worse there as well.
11:43They don't have a tough schedule because of the division that they play in.
11:46So I think the Texans themselves will be fine.
11:49But I think any fantasy value that CJ Stroud had kind of got bled away as the offseason went on.
11:56Najee Harris is another one.
11:58He hurt himself and signs a one-year contract with a team that then drafted a running back
12:03who everyone thinks is better than him already.
12:06So there is very minimum, A, he's having a tough time getting on the field
12:11because he almost lost an eye in a fireworks accident during the offseason.
12:17And now you have a running back, the team drafted in the first round,
12:21that everyone's really excited about.
12:23So I think that Harris isn't doing himself any favors in a situation that it already kind of felt
12:29like he was going to be phased out of at the back part of the season anyway.
12:33So I think there are some concerns there around Najee Harris and what is going on
12:40with this particular player in fantasy football.
12:44Over in the kick chat, Katie Moore is saying,
12:48hey, what are you doing?
12:50We are talking about football right now,
12:52looking at some fantasy football that is happening.
12:55I am from Calgary, chatting about that here.
12:58Got the Calgary Cannons hat on, representing the city of Calgary here.
13:03So now we go to the last player who I thought had their fantasy value hurt a little bit.
13:09I think the dude's incredibly talented.
13:10I think he's probably going to be fine.
13:12But eyebrow raised a little bit at what's going on with Jameer Gibbs.
13:17Ragnow retired.
13:18He was a Pro Bowl level center who I think was a very important part and a very, very good center,
13:27but a very important part about what was happening in the interior of that offensive line for the Detroit Lions.
13:33And so I think him leaving late in the offseason,
13:36so there wasn't a chance to really address that in the draft or in free agency.
13:39So to go in there with kind of a mash unit on the offensive line,
13:44when you are already losing a very good offensive mind as your offensive coordinator in Ben Johnson,
13:53I have a few concerns about Jameer Gibbs and Montgomery and anything else that's going to be going on
13:58in that backfield with the Lions this year.
14:01I would have some concerns about Jameer Gibbs.
14:03Again, I still think he's incredibly talented, so I feel okay about having him,
14:07but I don't think his situation got better this year.
14:10Shout out to Katie Moore in the Kick Chat, who is tuned in from the UK.
14:14Appreciate you hanging out and appreciate the follow.
14:17Thank you very much. I greatly, greatly appreciate that.
14:20We have Conrad over on the Twitch chat asking a couple of things.
14:25So, haven't done my draft yet.
14:27Is there any Chargers worth stacking with Justin Herbert?
14:33I mean, I think Ladd McConkie is set to have a very good year.
14:37He obviously pushed through a lot last year and turned into a really, really good receiver.
14:45And I think that given another year of development, another year of being confident in this system,
14:50and another year of just being a pro and understanding everything about what it is that the Chargers are expecting,
15:00I think he is a great target in fantasy.
15:03And so, I think if you get him and pair him up with Herbert, I think you're feeling pretty good right now.
15:10Conrad also said,
15:11Herbert's stock has to be the lowest it's been in a while with his lack of receiver depth.
15:15When you feel you have to sign the human band-aid, that is Keenan Allen.
15:18Yes.
15:18Like, I still think the Charger identity is going to be, let's try to run the football.
15:23I think while we were a little down on Najee Harris there, I think he is still going to get some options and power through.
15:29But he's going to be Najee.
15:31Daniel Jeremiah summed it up on the podcast he was on the other day.
15:34If you need three yards, Najee Harris is going to get you three yards.
15:37If you need six yards, Najee Harris is going to get you three yards.
15:40Um, but you have a Marion Hampton there as well, who is, I think, a very exciting prospect at the running back spot.
15:48Um, but I, I still think that, like, they really started to air it out as the season went on last year.
15:53And so, I think, yes, is it concerning that the pass-catching options, aside from McConkie,
15:58are Keenan Allen, who is a strong gust of wind away from just, um, uh, Thanos snapping himself
16:06and just, like, blowing away in the distance?
16:08Yeah, that is concerning.
16:10But, um, and you were, just took the words out of my mouth.
16:14Uh, Quinton Johnson can't catch a, uh, a cold.
16:17Uh, language, sir.
16:18But, yes, no, can't catch a fucking cold.
16:20You are absolutely correct on that.
16:22I've been on the radio for, like, a month.
16:23I'm so happy to be able to swear again.
16:25Um, like, yes, no, there is obviously a, a concern there about his ability to hold on to the football.
16:32But it's not like he has a 100% drop rate.
16:34It's just the important ones that he drops.
16:36But he is still, I think, a dynamic weapon that they can use.
16:40So, I, I think pairing up a Herbert with a Ladd McConkie, I think Herbert is gonna go late enough in drafts that that's gonna be a pretty good value.
16:48And McConkie, I, I really am quite high on.
16:51Um, Katie Moore with, uh, some flattering words as well in the, the, the kick chat.
16:55Uh, and then asking if I need a designer or an editor.
16:57Uh, not at the moment.
16:58Um, I know all of this looks like I do.
17:00Uh, but this is just a, uh, a one-man crew, um, at this particular time.
17:05Uh, don't necessarily have that in the budget right now.
17:07So, um, for the moment, uh, design needs are, are taken up with, uh, templates and the best that I can throw together very, very quickly.
17:14But, uh, appreciate the kind words nonetheless.
17:16We're gonna keep the football conversation going.
17:19Um, also, if you miss any of our football talk or just want to absolutely binge through some things as the football season rolls along, um, football playlist available, um, on YouTube and Daily Motion as well.
17:35Um, gonna have all the football preview videos in there.
17:38Also, just have specifically a 2025 off-season or NFL season preview, um, playlist in there as well.
17:46So, that's gonna be populated with everything that we do.
17:49So, if you just want an absolute crash course, just want to see what we're doing, or just feel like binging some football content, uh, it is all gonna be there in the, the playlist on YouTube.
17:59Uh, but now let's move back to a bit more of the, the real world football conversation.
18:05Um, uh, sorry, Conrad from the chat.
18:08Do you think that Alex Singleton and the Broncos defense is worth drafting?
18:11I think so.
18:12Yeah.
18:12I, I, like, I, I think that that is, like, that, that defense is gonna be very good.
18:17Getting Singleton back in the middle of that defense, uh, the guy's just a, a machine there.
18:21And they, I think that they improved quite a bit as the season went on.
18:25I think that's gonna be a bit of an identity for that team, is how good they are on the defensive side.
18:30And so, with that, I, I think that defense is worth drafting.
18:33Absolutely.
18:33Absolutely.
18:33Absolutely.
18:33Absolutely.
18:33Absolutely.
18:33Absolutely.
