00:00What was it like going on holiday with Elizabeth II?
00:04Well, it was wonderful.
00:06There was one story which I think I've told you before.
00:10And so we were flying from Bristol Airport,
00:12and we turned up at Bristol Airport, and I had my guns in tow.
00:17And we go and check in, and the sweet check-in lady sort of says,
00:20oh, you're going to Aberdeen?
00:21And I said, yes, I've got some guns.
00:22And she sort of looks and says, oh, dear, I'm totally sorry.
00:25You won't be able to take the guns on this flight.
00:27So she said, well, didn't you make a reservation for your guns?
00:31And I said, no, I've never made reservations for my guns.
00:34I've always just turned up.
00:35It's never been a problem.
00:36She said, well, not from Bristol you haven't, maybe from Heathrow.
00:39You'll just have to fly from Heathrow.
00:41So I said, no, I decided I was going to pull rank at this point.
00:44I said, well, I'm terribly sorry.
00:45I'm going to Balmoral for the weekend.
00:47I can't fly from Heathrow.
00:49The Queen's sending me a car, and she's expecting me for tea.
00:54Over to you.
00:55Anyways, that sort of focused her mind a bit.
01:00But she still wasn't letting me speak to the pilot.
01:04So she came up with a solution that we would leave them with the police in the police armory at Bristol Airport.
01:10So it was fine.
01:11So we got on the flight, and we turn up at Balmoral, ushered into the drawing room, and immediately go into tea.
01:18I'm sitting on the right-hand side of the Queen, and I'm kind of irritated by this story.
01:23So I repeat it to Her Majesty.
01:26And I could see that she was getting rather irritated as well.
01:28So she turns to her query.
01:31I think it was Simon at the time.
01:32And she said, Simon, I'd like Lord Ivor's guns to be up here tomorrow morning.
01:36Please see to it.
01:37Whereupon she turns back to me, and she looks at me over her glasses with a glint on her eye, and she says,
01:43They want me to open their new terminal.
01:47She says, I don't think I will now.
01:50And was the terminal ever opened, the new terminal?
01:53No.
01:53All right.
02:17Bye.
02:18Bye.
02:19Bye.
02:19Bye.
