00:00Discord is at an all-time high, and decency at an all-time low, and people need good entertainment, they need positivity.
00:07I'm shocked myself that I'm still around, because you look at a lot of my contemporaries, I don't want to name names, but guys that started when I did, they just don't.
00:16I don't know, if I could be humble about it, I think I've been a pretty nice person, and that goes a long way now, you know, I don't think.
00:25It's just the idea of Jap people being jerk-offs, there's no time for it, people don't have the energy, there's 20 guys in line behind you that could do the job just as well, so hopefully my reputation has helped with that.
00:38I'm still amazed when I get a job like Palm Royale, you know, getting to work with Kristen Wiig, and all these great actors, that's really where I'm at, I'm happy to play smaller roles in working with really good people.
00:50The more I get to do roles that aren't that, the more I embrace what Full House was, what Uncle Jesse is, the more I, people can call me Uncle Jesse all day long, I love it now, I don't care, I still get to go work with Danny DeVito, I get to do Palm Royale, I get to, you know, go work with Cynthia Reed, you know, like, I can accept it now, because I'm not just that, I've proven to myself that I can do other things.
01:16Whether people see it, the other stuff or not, it doesn't really matter, and also, you know, having a kid now, I realize how important that television show is and was, because I'm watching TV with them, and there's not a lot of, there's a lot of, it's sitcom stuff, the stuff that you see on television that I kind of encourage them not to watch, it's not the same as what we did back then.
01:37And I can see why there's a new Full House fan born every four years, whatever it is, because the show, there was no central character on the show, the central character was love.
01:48And I could really see it. And yeah, some of the jokes didn't hold up. And there's some stuff that's corny, and maybe one or two, too many hugs, you know, here and there. But it still holds up, because the themes are universal. And it's sort of needed now more than ever, right? Like, with this world, you know, that's why I've really been connecting more with the Beach Boys the last few years, too.
02:11Because, I always say this, but Discord is at an all-time high, and decency at an all-time low. And people need good entertainment. They need positivity, optimism. You walk into a Beach Boys show a certain age, you're going to walk out younger and happier and more optimistic. I see it every night. The power of music, and the power of television, but the power of that music is, it's unexplainable.
02:39So, you know, the Beach Boys, and Mike Love specifically with his lyrics, you know, painted this cinematic tableau of positivity and love and good vibrations of wouldn't it be nice and fun, fun, fun. And it was a feeling that, at the time, certainly in the 60s, that made the whole world want to be us. America, America's band, you know, it's not so much that anymore.
03:02But, at least people that are here, we can make their day better, make their life better, make them, you know, maybe harken back to a happier time in their life.
03:12And, so, all that is all really needed right now. You know, I think as a parent, you're always trying to impress your kid, right?
03:20And it was, nothing I was doing was working. So, he used to watch Mickey's Funhouse. And so, I just started asking him, can I do a voice on there? Oh, we have a pirate.
03:32So, I did this salty pose. Arr, there's a pirate on there. And he loved that. But he was like three or so. He was more the age of who's watching the new show, I think.
03:40And then, then he was watching Iron Man. He was into, started getting into Marvel. I started doing more of the Marvel stuff. And this season two, I did an episode of Phineas and Ferb, which he loved. And I have a kiff coming up.
03:55I just hit up all my friends at Disney and go, can I do some more voices? We tried to watch it last night, but we saw some clips and we'll watch it today.
04:01He watches Full House, but mainly to mock me. You know, he likes to get, yeah, you do. I say, Billy, put your Legos away or something. You got it, dude. You know, he likes to do the catchphrases right back at me. Don't you, Bill?
04:16I think he handles it really well. I think he understands that I, you know, I do something different. I think that he, I remember asking, we were on vacation with, not to drop names, with Tom Hanks and Rita.
04:29And they were like, just make sure he knows that that's your job. And you're, you're this person, you know, you're the dad, this is your family. And then when people come up and ask you pictures, that's just part of your, but he kind of gets into yesterday.
04:41He was like, dad, dad, dad, I'm trying to talk. There's people on a picture over there. Dad, dad, go take a picture of this. I think he's having fun with it. I don't know. I guess that does. Yeah. He, I think what he loves most is the, the Beach Boy tour. He loves coming on tour.
04:54And this new thing is to kind of sit behind me the whole time and talk to me about mundane things. And I'm playing in front of 10, 15,000 people. I was like, dad, dad, Rory's out there. My friend Rory. Okay, good.
05:09And I'm like this. He liked to come on stage. And so he's sort of banging on the tambourine once. I said, well, you have to, if you're going to come on stage, you have to play right.
05:17So he really started taking drum lessons and he studied the tambourine part on good vibrations and he plays it perfect.
05:22So now he comes up on stage and then we played the other night in Long Beach and he, it was the last night of the tour for a while.
05:29So he gets to come out and take a bow at the end of the show. So, I mean, I am getting old.
05:33Although I don't feel it. I don't feel it. I take care of myself. I stopped drinking 10 years ago.
05:38And I think that for me, anyway, that's, that's been, that's why I'm alive.
05:43Like I never would have, you know, I never would have met my wife would have, if I was still drinking, she would have been like, uh, see you.
05:51Like she, you know, I had a very fuzziness and I think, I think it, it, um, I'm happy where I'm at in my career, but I think I would be a lot further along if I, if I stopped sooner.
06:01Because I think I just, I wasn't taken as serious and I don't blame people.
06:05You know, there was a fuzziness around me and, um, I mean, I got the job done, but, you know, I could have done it better and I could have been more connected and more, but anyway, that, you know, being, getting married and having a child and that's kept, that's kept me young and kept me alive.
06:20And, um, I take care of myself and I think, I, I, you know, I think that for whatever reason, if I'm aging, okay, I think that's helped with my longevity as well, you know.
