00:00From August 8th to 10th at MyTech,
00:29it was all about custom builds, shiny exteriors, and all-around attitude.
00:35Guys, this is a GT-R concept car,
00:39and it's just the beginning of what Tokyo Auto Saloon KL has to offer.
00:43Now, isn't she just absolutely stunning?
00:51Around 100,000 people attended the 3-day event
00:55to check out unique, iconic builds from Japan.
00:59Guys, this is the world-famous Liberty Walk Ferrari F40
01:05displayed outside of Japan for the very first time.
01:10How awesome does that look?
01:12Wherever you looked, there was a showstopper.
01:16The Liberty Walk Super Silhouette Works ER34 Skyline from Japan.
01:22Smokey Nagata's legendary top-secret GT300 Toyota Supra,
01:28and his R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R.
01:32The Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86, made famous by the manga Initial D.
01:40A 1962 Cadillac Coupe Deville, and even a fiercely revamped 3rd generation Myvi.
01:48People also waited in line to purchase popular die-cast models,
01:52and get autographs from Japanese automotive legends.
01:56The crowd gathered around Smokey Nagata, the notorious speed chaser,
02:01who hit 317 kilometers per hour on a UK highway in 1998 in his gold Toyota Supra,
02:10a record that still stands as the highest officially recorded speed on a British public road.
02:18Also present was Wataru Kato, founder of Japanese tuning company Liberty Walk,
02:25known for popularizing dramatic wide-body kits.
02:30Wow, it is a very, very long line. You must be a big fan.
02:33What do you love so much about Wataru Kato?
02:35Because I like the style for MBWK, the design, the die-cast.
02:43Can you show our viewers the model?
02:45We also spoke to Malaysian race car driver, Zen Lo,
02:50who rose from humble beginnings in Sarawak,
02:53to compete on some of the biggest racetracks in the world.
02:58Winning, not winning, I came third in the Asia-Pacific for Ferrari Challenge,
03:03which was in Mujalo, Italy.
03:06When I got onto the podium, I looked to the left, Mark Saleh.
03:10I looked to the right, another Mark Saleh.
03:12I was the only Asian up there.
03:14So I think that was a very proud moment for me,
03:16knowing that I came a long way and I never expect to come this far
03:21or even to race all the way to that level.
03:24Especially when I started as a gentleman driver.
03:27My goal was to do three years.
03:29That's it, you know, but I managed to carry on for more than a decade.
03:33Today, he's found a new passion in building drift cars and modifying others,
03:39like his latest Restomod, a 40-year-old Porsche 944 Turbo.
03:45We also caught up with Hiroshi Tamura, the man behind the modern Nissan GT-R.
03:51And even he was blown away by Malaysians' love for cars.
03:57It's the first time for me.
03:59It's a very big passion.
04:01Right.
04:02You know, passion is not just a car lover or something like that.
04:07It's more something to install the car guys of their life.
04:13They are the so deep knowledge they have.
04:17Very amazing.
04:19We also spoke to several attendees and it was smiles all around.
04:24This is my first time coming here.
04:26I've always been really interested in cars
04:28and to have some really, really big names over here,
04:32which is why I'm really interested to come.
04:35Yeah? Yeah.
04:36What are you most excited about?
04:38Have you been around already?
04:39Yes, I've been around the whole place like twice.
04:43Okay.
04:44And what caught your attention first?
04:46I really like the...
04:47I was most excited to see the Smoky Nagata's golden GT-Rs and Supras.
04:53And also just some really retro cars, which is like really cool.
05:00The American old cars are really nice to see.
05:03So yeah.
05:04And the fun continued at Tokyo Auto Salon KL.
05:08Families gathered for remote car racing.
05:11Collectors went wild for Hot Wheels.
05:13And intricate dioramas caught everyone's eye.
05:19Wow, guys.
05:20It's been such a turbocharged weekend.
05:23And it's not even over yet.
05:25To all of those of you who attended,
05:27thank you for coming and I hope you've enjoyed it.
05:29Just as much as I have,
05:30there's still so much more that I want to go and explore.
05:33So I will definitely be catching y'all soon.
05:35This is Daryl B. and Tibia Raghu, FMT.
05:38See y'all soon!
