00:08Despite their losses to Australia and Japan, including a close 85-82 game against the Japanese squad where Gilas nearly pulled off an upset, the team showcased determination and heart throughout the tournament.
00:20The Gilas women bounced back with a 73-70 win over Lebanon, a crucial victory that allowed them to retain their Division A status and secure a slot in the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup qualifiers.
00:32From their previous rank of No. 44, the Philippines is now ranked No. 39 in the world, according to the latest FIBA World Rankings released on August 8, 2025.
00:42In the Asia and Oceania region, the Gilas women's team is ranked seventh behind powerhouse teams such as Australia No. 3 in the world, China No. 2, Japan No. 9, South Korea No. 19, New Zealand No. 21 in Chinese Taipei No. 33.
00:58The team is expected to stay busy this year as they gear up for the 2025 Southeast Asian Games in December when they aim or were they aimed to reclaim the gold medal in women's basketball from Thailand to defending champions from the last edition.
