I just went hands on with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, which at 5.8mm is the thinnest Galaxy S phone ever. It's also super light at just 163 grams or 5.7 ounces. This phone doesn't feel flimsy either, thanks to the titanium frame and Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 display. Samsung does pack in some flagship-level specs, like a 200MP camera and Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite chip — and you get all of the Galaxy AI features. But there are some trade-offs, like no telephoto camera and a small-ish battery. Is all of this worth the $1,099 price? Here are my first impressions.

00:00I have in my hand the thinnest Galaxy S phone ever, and it feels like the future?
00:07Meet the Galaxy S25 Edge, which measures just 5.8mm thin and makes the Galaxy S25 Ultra
00:13look like a blimp.
00:14This phone isn't just thin, it's super light at just 163 grams or 5.7 ounces.
00:20That's a full ounce lighter than the Galaxy S25 Plus with the same size display.
00:24So you'd get a big 6.7-inch OLED screen, a powerful 200-megapixel camera like the Ultra,
00:30and all the Galaxy AI features you'd expect.
00:33Samsung says it got the S25 Edge to be so light by applying some of the lessons it's learned
00:38from foldable phones.
00:39In my hand, the S25 Edge feels very thin.
00:42There's barely room for a USB port, but it also feels sturdy enough that it's not like
00:46a toy.
00:47I was skeptical, but now that the S25 Edge is in my hand, I kind of wish all phones were
00:50this thin, as long as it's nice and durable.
00:53It's natural to be worried about durability here, but Samsung says the S25 Edge is built
00:58tough with a new, stronger Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 display and a sturdy titanium frame.
01:03But we'll have to see how this phone does on various bend tests.
01:07Color options?
01:08You have three to choose from in titanium silver, titanium jet black, and titanium icy blue.
01:13I'm kind of partial to the silver because it feels more futuristic.
01:16The black is slimming, but it also kind of feels redundant with this kind of phone.
01:20And the icy blue definitely pops the most.
01:22In terms of performance, the S25 Edge packs the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and 12 gigs
01:27of RAM and 256 gigs of storage as the S25 Ultra.
01:31But there are some trade-offs for this thinness.
01:34For one, there's only two rear cameras with a main and ultra-wide lens.
01:37There's no telephoto lens.
01:38But that's better than the rumored one camera for the iPhone 17 Air.
01:42The 200-megapixel main camera can do a 2x-like optical zoom and only a 10x digital zoom.
01:48Compare that to a true 3x optical and 30x digital zoom on the regular S25.
01:55So the S25 Edge with the 12-megapixel front camera has an 85-degree field of view versus
02:0180 degrees for all the other S25 models, including the Ultra.
02:05So you're actually getting a little bit of an upgrade on the Edge.
02:09There's some other bad news.
02:11The battery only has a capacity of 3,900 milliamp-hours.
02:15That's less than the small, regular Galaxy S25 at 4,000 milliamp-hours.
02:20Samsung says the battery life should be better than the regular S24.
02:24But we'll put the S25 Edge through our own Tom's Guide battery test to see how well
02:28it stacks up.
02:30So what about pricing?
02:31The Galaxy S25 Edge starts at $1099.
02:33That's $200 less than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but $100 more than the Plus.
02:38In other words, you're definitely paying a premium for the sheer thinness of the S25 Edge.
02:43And you're also paying for that sleek profile with one less camera and a smaller battery.
02:48When you look at this compared to the S25 Ultra, it almost seems like Samsung is all about
02:52editing with the S25 Edge.
02:54You're getting less cameras, a smaller battery, a slightly smaller display, but they're trying
02:58to give you flagship-level features for a price that is a little bit more palatable.
03:02And with the design, I think it's definitely going to turn heads.
03:04So which one you get is up to you, but if I was going to carry one phone around every
03:08day and not feel it in my pocket, I might go with the Edge.
03:12Is this super-skinny flagship worth the trade-offs?
03:15Stay tuned for our full review.
03:17For Tom's Guide, this is Mark Spoonhour.
