09:18head designer for Kalia Alisha Scott so good to meet all of you we created Kalia about 10 years ago and
09:32really wanted to form a brand that is the perfect juxtaposition of fashion and femininity and function
09:39and I love how you guys have all styled all your pieces you got today our entire collection is rooted
09:44in performance if you're designing a look for Pilates or run it needs to be able to function we
09:50believe there's beauty in the burn how's it gonna work whenever she is doing a downward dog make sure
09:55that when you're designing a piece it can be used for working out going to grab coffee going out to grab
10:02cocktails with your friends it needs to be versatile so not only has Kalia provided lookbooks they've
10:08also provided all the fabrications for the challenge that's not all Kalia is going to produce and sell
10:18the winning look from the winning collection that would be so cool to have a Joseph McCray and Kalia
10:25produce but I feel like it would eat down I love the idea of this like beauty in the burn so what if we
10:32have like fire on the runway like actual fire so you'll have all of today and part of tomorrow to create
10:41your fire worthy collections don't you love a one-day challenge yes one day to do this as if there
10:49weren't enough stress already the burn of it all Ethan you want to see what it's like when you put

12:23and so coming off the last challenge being in the bottom our stickler was our cohesion so as we're
12:31going through these fabrics that Kalia provided us we're really paying attention to what color palette
12:36we want to do so that we really nail that cohesion this time because if we miss it two times in a row are we
12:42going to be done for I love this fabric that was trying to get the colors out of this this has all
12:48all your colors once again Antonio is choosing the fabric and I'm getting a little anxious because
12:56the last time he chose fabric we were in the bottom can y'all roll the tape back so the fabric that I
13:03brought from home is in pink so let's have the inspiration of our collection be butterflies that's
13:08the best one out of all of them I think we should go with that I don't like that no you like this better
13:14I mean I like this I don't like that either but I mean I wanted to start with Miss Joan I want to
13:20know what it is oh is the drama already beginning you know working with the twins you know they're a
13:26whole vibe but our looks have to be cohesive I love Miss Joan but she's a little little old school

14:06trying to use the aspects of a kimono I grew up in Greensboro North Carolina but my nana was a tailor from
14:16Nagasaki Japan so I find a lot of inspiration in what the Japanese call intangible cultural treasures but my mama would say that I don't bring in a lot of

15:04madeline what informs your work um trying to always like see things that i like about
15:12vintage fashion but then giving it like my own little twist what about yourself i grew up in
15:18like a hoedunk farm town i just felt inherently so different from the rest of my family the only
15:24thing i could really do was you know rely on my own creativity and imagination to kind of distract me
15:30from maybe not feeling like it belonged there did they accept you as you are like you know when i
15:37finally did come out they were like we don't get it yet but we just don't want to lose you so we're
15:44gonna try to figure this out i feel really blessed to be able to have my family in my life so it makes
15:52me want to really push myself to win this for them hello hey how's the team going

16:12i am a technical designer and i am a serious workaholic my family's jamaican and i've always been raised with
16:21all the elders around me doing multiple things even if it's not their job they're gonna figure out
16:26how to do it that day and do it so i have to push myself because this workout weekend challenge is
16:32taking me out of my comfort zone i really wanted to do something that was extremely comfortable i think
16:38it feels a little too demure i think i made the right decision i was the one who fought to use this
16:46print because ms joan didn't like it she still doesn't like it okay so you did it again you

16:57groundbreaking this circle skirt yeah i can cut a circle out right now and do this in 10 minutes
17:04really we're kind of not the exact same look from the last challenge but you're making a jacket and a

17:20christian are coming to work room like are you sure about that or he'd be walking around like
17:26oh okay that little face be killing me with them glasses and that hair perfectly swapped it to the side
17:33the top being fabulous is very important here we should develop this more because you already know
17:39you can make a cool jacket i'm gonna listen to christian because i know i'm taking a risk but i
17:43do not want to be in the bottom again you got a lot to do i got you okay let's get it i'm kind of going
17:50for like that modern with a little bit of tron this sash doesn't do anything she couldn't do any
17:57athletic things with this hanging what are all these lines on this so i kind of want to achieve
18:06this kind of like texture all of these lines you're going to weave the inspirations for this design
18:12is the calia logo it's like a twisted string it's like very dynamic what are you doing it's going to
18:21be like a more like athletic fancy corset bustier kind of thing this makes no sense for an athletic look
18:32that scares me athleisure specifically is not something that i normally do unfortunately time
18:39is not on our side in this competition christian has his doubts about this corset but we're sticking
18:46to our guns hmm what are you doing i am doing an oversized hoodie which i'm thinking about cropping
18:55i did the pin tuck in my hand it's gonna have the same pin tuck in all over the pants as well
19:00so you're also doing a sweat oversized sweat oversized sweat pant in the same fabric is the pant wide
19:10like that wide you haven't even looked at each other's stuff and she's like right she's right in
19:14front of you honestly i really don't know much about what my team is doing this is it yes looks very
19:21similar i haven't looked at the other designers on my team i've just been too focused so we just have a
19:27wide pant off on the runway in the same fabric what the like what am i going to do next i need to
19:35think fast and pivot into some other different silhouette if i don't succeed i'm worried it might put
19:41me on the bottom so i'm looking at team lotus and it does not fit the brief that we got so we both
19:54have mesh their looks are looking a little all over the place i think that we're gonna take this one
19:59home i look at the other team it's like crickets in that side of the room no one's really talking to
20:05each other and here we are like you know blah blah and then at night she just puts a glove in honey

20:30this very cool jacket with a pleated skirt that's the top i think so so how does one do anything

21:45side seams and all of the volume is put into pleats across the back since we're paying homage to my
21:53japanese ancestress it's really important for me to nail this look that i make and i am feeling the

24:16that goes from workout to weekend you worked in teams and you had only one day to create your

24:33and our guest judge and co-owner of the fashion line favorite daughter sarah foster
24:42i'm so excited to see miss sarah foster she has a really good head on her shoulders around how to
24:47make a woman feel beautiful and comfortable in the clothes she's gorgeous okay we're ready let's
24:51start the show it's gonna be flaming hot i wish i had a marshmallow this got flammable hair now wait
24:59a minute i told you it was gonna be hot and i was not talking about hans and franz
25:15i do feel like i have successfully captured the essence of this challenge with creating something
25:20that goes from workout to weekend with the pin tucking the silhouette the styling is really good
25:26i'm feeling really confident she's a professional you know you know look at us now i'm very proud of
25:35this look my look looks very modern sexy and fun and the red line on the jacket is everything that
25:42is a short skirt but she's got some good legs look at us now now here i come i'm just looking at the
25:52outfit it's not as bad as i expected it to be but i know what's going on on the inside
26:01this messy messy i'm not happy about it it could have been worse it could have also been better

26:13with my athleisure look i'm feeling pretty satisfied i like it i think it's cute it's nothing

26:42those holes individually it takes a lot of work to create that textile i want to make sure that every
26:48piece that i make is a labor of love i don't get that curly hair with that
26:52with that side fin it's flowing down the runway it's got movement oh it looks so good
27:04i would wear that now i may have slayed a little bit too hard this week so
27:08i'm hoping that it can pull this team through to the wind
27:11this look it's very universal this girl can do pilates and then put some heels on put a jacket on
27:23and go have a cocktail with the girls at night i'm proud of myself it would mean a lot to win this
27:28challenge and have that collab with leah coming from the crowd i'ma shut it down
27:32do it like this i'm happy with how this look turned out i feel like it's me and i'm starting
27:41to be more confident in what i'm designing and believe whatever i'm creating is good

29:06but it's hard to tell you know it's two different vibes so i hope that the switch doesn't come back to

31:56all of it i like your look too i like her vibe it stands out it's memorable to me she's badass and

36:24here the silhouette i think is nice i like the length i like that it's not a midi and it's not a
36:28mini i think that's versatile a lot of people can wear that it's just really that's that's all i liked
36:32about it you guys like the ties hey i love dangling i think it kind of looks like a tampon i think
36:38oh i mean this is this is unwearable i also don't understand this girl i think the work that you've
36:45done i think it's quite beautiful but it doesn't scream active wear to me at all like i don't get
36:51it that's the problem that's the problem yeah you needed to make this a top a pair of black leggings
36:58and call it a day and you would have had a hit this didn't need to be a cocktail dress out of context

37:11stay true to myself i think where you have to be careful angelo is that it felt to me a little safe
37:20and boring you really need to bring in a sense of drama step it up listen i'm a basic bitch so i love

37:33appreciate that you added that detail yeah on sweats i think it's really well made it's just

38:03situation is at the sauna well obviously you're not going to wear a corset in the sauna but post
38:09sauna you can but you gave her a corset she doesn't look comfortable at all she can't work out in this
38:16guys the story has to match you cannot piss on me and tell me it's raining i'm sorry okay well the
38:22corset you're right but the pant and the sweater top i did like i liked the movement coming down the
38:27runway i don't know when it was coming down i was like oh it looks kind of like laura piano vibes
38:33come on guys turn around please no do you see the seam of the pant when she turns around there's
38:40the puckering yeah it is a struggle in the back there's a little bit of a problem with this bib that
38:46falls from the corset i think there's too many ideas put in the flap in the front the flap on the
38:52arms she's playing homage to her heritage and yes i love that but i don't see that in the look

39:13because this is a show and you're competing with people that are going to razzle dazzle you have to

39:26vj's look was actually really good i hated it the ties were insane i thought the dress was really
39:33well made it was just out of context yes i would buy that it was the wrong story the sneakers with it
