00:00Building a city of the future, easing pressure on the capital, Uzbekistan's urban development
00:09strategy is entering a bold new phase. Hello and welcome to Business Live in Uzbekistan.
00:16The country plans to increase the level of urbanization, which is the role of cities
00:21in development, to 60% by 2030. Today, the population living and working in Tashkent
00:28is 5 million. Therefore, there is a need to construct more than 20,000 apartment buildings,
00:34over 40 schools, kindergartens and polyclinics every year. Given the current pace of urbanization,
00:41the population is expected to continue increasing in the coming years. To this end, as part of the
00:47master plan for the city of Tashkent until 2045, the construction of New Tashkent has begun.
00:54According to the plan, New Tashkent will include about 2 million people and it's planned to create
01:00200,000 high-income jobs based on innovative technology in the city. Let's find the details.
01:08The project, proposed by British architectural company Crossworks, has started east of the city,
01:14between the Chirchuk and Karasu rivers. It's designed for an area of 20,000 hectares. In the first phase,
01:22construction work is already underway on an area of 6,000 hectares.
01:27The destination aims to enhance the quality of life through innovative and inclusive urban development,
01:44while elevating pressure on the capitalist infrastructure.
01:47The new Tashkent will introduce green corridors and a mixed urban layout inspired by advanced world
02:09experience. We're building artificial canals, parks, green zones, alleys that will be interconnected
02:17along the water bodies, but also throughout the city, so that we can create a microclimate for the city.
02:23Now, for the buildings themselves, we have strict requirements on energy efficiency,
02:29water efficiency, rainwater collection and reuse.
02:32Arcon is a Turkish company focusing on sustainable and integrated transportation system in New Tashkent.
02:40Their work aims to ensure seamless connectivity and support the long-term mobility needs of the
02:46city's growing population. Metro line which connects New Tashkent city and current Tashkent city is
02:53approximately 21 kilometers and also inside the city we have tram lines. We are designing under car parking
03:00areas. People can give their cars to this car parking area and they can integrate to public transportation directly.
03:09The New Tashkent project is a blueprint of how a 21st century city should work.
03:15Now let's talk with Humayuddin Abrahmatev, head of department of the New Tashkent directorate.
