An initiative by Milton Keynes Dons to fight food poverty in the city was featured on ITV’s English Football League highlights show this weekend.
Milton Keynes Dons chief executive Neil Hart and Zenko Protocol chief executive Jason Sibley were both interviewed as part of the feature, shown on the programme immediately after highlights of the Dons 5-0 win over Cheltenham on Saturday August 16.

00:00We've come down to MK Dons to speak to their CEO Neil Hart to find out how this new home
00:05shirt is going to help the community.
00:08Recent government statistics were telling us 25,000 children are living in food poverty
00:12in the city so can we do something about that?
00:13Yes we can and through hopefully selling loads of these shirts can we feed thousands of children
00:19in the city who are living in food poverty.
00:21How difficult was it to set it all up and actually create something that will impact
00:25schools?
00:26It was easy.
00:27The Zenco guys made it very straight forward.
00:29So it's just yes let's do it and every few weeks we'll track how many we've sold and
00:32we'll make sure that money filters down through the non-for-profit into the schools to feed
00:36those children.
00:37Having MK Dons as our first football client in this programme, it means everything because
00:42it's a city I live in and this is about connecting football to something good happening in the
00:48city and using the fans to help distribute value to a cause.
00:52So this will directly impact children from Milton Keynes?
00:54Directly.
00:55So it's not some abstract thing happening on the side of the world.
00:58We're hoping we can squeeze three to four meals out of each shirt and we're genuinely
01:03going to, through the home shirts, going to target to feed 10,000 children this year and
01:08hopefully that number will increase next year.
01:10And it's real.
01:11It's real.
01:12It's not tokenistic.
01:13It's not a marketing ploy.
01:15It's real.
01:16You buy one of those shirts and you will feed a child in poverty in this city.
01:20Are you expecting to see a lot more white shirts at the stadium this year?
01:23I hope so.
01:24Well, not just at the stadium.
01:25Everywhere.
01:26In the city.
01:27Everywhere.
01:28Everywhere.
01:29A lot of exciting things are happening here.
01:30Yeah, a lot of exciting things.
01:31I think we keep saying a new era, a new dawn and it's about trying to take everyone, including
01:35everybody in the city on the journey with us because we want to be successful, we want
01:39to be ambitious, we want to put a team out there that everyone can be proud of and get
01:42behind and we'll see where we land at the end of the season.
01:45I think we're very excited about what we can achieve here.
