00:00Let's get to the West, the NL West, before we start to look at some of those awards markets
00:03here. The Dodgers, 70-53 back in first place in the NL West. We knew this was going to be a
00:08monster series between the Padres and the Dodgers. The Padres fighting all season long just to
00:12overtake the Dodgers, barely. And then the Dodgers say, no, no, no, we're the big dog on campus here.
00:17We're going to handle our business. Back-to-back victories for the Dodgers. They look for the
00:20sweep today, but it looks like it's going to be Dodgers-Padres fighting it out down the stretch,
00:25Tom. I like that. It really is. And frankly, I could see the Padres pulling off a win streak
00:31after this. And the Dodgers, this is the point that the Dodgers turn the corner. So let's say
00:36the Dodgers go 8-2 over their next 10 games. The Padres go 7-3. It's like, wow, the Padres are
00:41playing great ball. It's like, well, you lost the most important series and now you're a step behind
00:45and now you're not going to make up the ground, even though you are playing great ball right now
00:49because the Dodgers also turn the corner. So the Dodgers get it done and they win the division.
00:55The Padres had their time to strike and they missed it. Yeah, exactly. Sometimes, Tom,
00:59you spend so much energy just trying to get to the top of the mountain. That's like, hey, man,
01:03I'm too exhausted. You can go back down and take this thing. Maybe the Dodgers hold on. We always
01:07expected the Dodgers to win it, but just fun to see them getting pressure put on them as opposed to
01:11when we're talking about them in April. Like, is this team ever going to lose a baseball game? No,
01:14they're human and they're going to lose games. We'll see if they can win this division and end
01:17into the playoffs with some fire down the stretch. Let's look at the awards betting markets right now.
01:22Changing, changing, changing. Take a look at the American League. Aaron Judge,
01:25is the favorite right now, Tom, at a minus 190 price. Cal Raleigh at plus 120. And then there's
01:29everybody else. This is fun because nobody's running away with it. These guys now hitting
01:34home runs on a day-to-day basis, but we see those numbers changing as they get closer to 50.
01:38Judge is still that favorite at minus 190, though.
01:41He really is. And it comes down to kind of the same thing where Cal Raleigh had his chance to
01:48strike when Judge was out. And Cal Raleigh didn't seize the opportunity. And he went through
01:53stretches where he wasn't hitting a lot of home runs. He did participate in the home run derby.
01:57And we have seen that negatively impact players in the second half of the season.
02:02James Wood went a month without a home run. He was also in the home run derby. So Cal Raleigh
02:07had his chance. He missed it. It's locked up for Judge. And again, Cal Raleigh is going to bat like
02:12240 when Judge is batting 330. And when it's all said and done, Judge had another home run last night.
02:18Their home runs and their RBIs are going to be tied when it's all said and done. Judge is going to win.
02:24Now, by the way, take a look at the National League, and maybe it's a formality as well.
02:27Shohei Ohtani, a minus 20,000 price. Schwartz was probably going to hit 55 home runs this year
02:31for the Phillies and not be the MVP. Why? Because Shohei Ohtani is a one-man wrecking crew on the
02:36mound and at the plate itself. Manny Machado, Paul Skeens, Kyle Tucker, Corbin Carroll. But this is
02:40Shohei Ohtani's award. We've been telling you this for weeks and weeks and more weeks. And we'll do it again
02:45this week. It really has. And almost since the beginning of the season where we said like,
02:50oh, well, Ohtani's doing great. And then I'm like, oh, what are the odds going to be once he gets back
02:54on the mound? Once he steps out there and pitches, he's going to shoot up to 10,000, 15,000. Now it's
02:59at 20,000. And it is what it is. And again, I want to see Schwarber hit 65 home run. Not 50. I want
03:07to see him hit 65 and break a record because then we actually have to talk about, hang on,
03:12Schwarber has done something that we haven't seen in 30 years, 40 years,
03:15whatever it is. I'm not dating back to, you know, Barry Bonds with the 72. But if he breaks
03:19another record, well, then we have to have that conversation. But if Ohtani's out there,
03:23even though he's batting under 300, he's still going to win the award.
