Nurse Charlotte Beale is hired by Dr. Stephens to work at a small sanitarium he runs. When Charlotte arrives, however, she learns that Stephens died in the interim, and his successor, Dr. Masters is not very keen to take on new staff. Charlotte goes along, but can't help noticing how unusual Masters' approach is to treating the mentally ill. She soon learns why Dr. Masters is so eager to keep the outsiders out.

00:01:31All right, Harriet. I won't touch your baby

00:01:38Ready to eat, Sam? Oh, every night. Dr. Stevens makes me eat the soup
00:01:55I bet you don't know how many kinds of soup I've eaten, Jenny. Come on, guess

00:02:15I'm going to have to say goodbye
00:02:17Goodbye?
00:02:18That means you're gonna leave me, Jenny?
00:02:22We can't play with the boat?

00:04:02Danny, cut it out. Don't touch my baby!
00:04:08I'll kill you. I'll kill you!
00:04:15Now use the axe Judge. Listen to me Judge. Use the axe Judge. Go ahead Judge. Use the axe. Use it. Again Judge. Once more again. Strike out. Harder Judge. Now again.
00:04:45That's it Judge. Hit it again. And again. Strike it. Strike it. Dr. Stevens I must speak to you. Yes. What is it Judge? He's doing very well tonight. Can you sense how each stroke reaches down. Freeing some part of his conflict. Perhaps that's the cell or two of the unconscious brain yet he's reaching it. Reach for it Judge. Dr. Stevens. Yes.
00:05:13Doctor. I've come to a decision about. About all this. I just can't take it any longer. Harriet threatened me again tonight. I'm leaving. I. Well you said you had someone else coming out tonight. Someone to help.
00:05:28I can't accept that decision. Janie. You're a professional. I won't allow you to do it.
00:05:35Put it down Judge. Put it down Judge. Put it down.
00:05:43Judge. Judge. Judge. Put it down Judge. Put it down Judge. Put it down.
00:05:49That's right.
00:05:51Oh God. Oh how did this happen? I don't know. Get out of here. Judge. Judge. We're not going to do anything foolish. Get the ax, Sam.
00:06:09Very quietly. We're going to walk into the house. Come on Judge. Don't look at Dr. Stevens. I'm going to help you. Come on. Quietly. Quietly. Calmly. That's right. Into the house. I'm coming with you. That's right Judge. Sam put the ax down on the ground.
00:06:29Sam. Sam. Sam listen to me. From now on. I'm going to take care of the family. I'm going to take care of Cameron.
00:06:59and Janie. And all the others. Do you understand? But Janie's leaving. Oh? All right. Listen to me. I'll be back in a few minutes. To tell you what to do with Dr. Stevens. Do you understand me?
00:07:18I'm coming Judge. That's right. Quietly. Calmly.
00:07:22Don't cry, Bailey. Don't cry. Don't cry. I'll get your bottle.
00:07:52You too.

00:09:00No!
00:09:02You took the grass!
00:09:04No!
00:09:06You took my baby!
00:09:08My baby!
00:09:36Hello?
00:09:38Hello?
00:09:40Hello?
00:09:42Hello?
00:09:44Hello?
00:09:46Hello?
00:09:50Hello?
00:09:52Hello?
00:09:54Hello?
00:09:56Hello?
00:09:58Hello?
00:10:00Dr. Stevens?
00:10:02Hello?
00:10:04Hello?
00:10:06Hello?
00:10:08Hello?
00:10:22Dr. Stevens?
00:10:38Deanie, the lady.
00:10:40Go to your room now, Sam.
00:10:42Have you been standing there long?
00:10:54Why, no. In fact, I just this minute came in.
00:10:56I didn't see anyone.
00:10:57I'm Dr. Masters, Geraldine Masters.
00:10:59Am I expecting you?
00:11:01Well, perhaps Dr. Stevens hasn't mentioned my coming.
00:11:05Oh, I'm sorry.
00:11:07I'm Charlotte Beal, RN, Psychiatric Therapy.
00:11:10Beal?
00:11:12Yes, I'm to get settled in tonight.
00:11:14I'm starting with Dr. Stevens first thing in the morning.
00:11:17Well, perhaps you'd better go into my office this way.
00:11:26Have a seat.
00:11:30Now, would you mind telling me again just who you are
00:11:35and exactly what you're doing here?
00:11:38Dr. Masters, I'm sorry you haven't been informed about my coming.
00:11:42You see, Dr. Stevens hired me, oh, about a week ago, I think it was.
00:11:47Yes, on the 20th.
00:11:49I had heard about Dr. Stevens' unusual psychiatric methods and called for an interview.
00:11:54He liked my training and background and said he was terribly short on qualified health
00:11:59and asked if I would start this next week, which is today.
00:12:03Now, now, just wait a minute, Miss Beal.
00:12:05Well, first of all, I was not informed about your coming here.
00:12:09And secondly, I feel sure that Dr. Stevens would have brought this up with me if he'd reached a decision about you.
00:12:16Dr. Masters, certainly there can't be a mistake.
00:12:19Oh, perhaps it's just an oversight.
00:12:21That's just the point, Miss Beal.
00:12:23Dr. Stevens would not have made an oversight.
00:12:26Not about something as important as increasing our staff, not when there are just three of us.
00:12:31Normally, three of us on the staff.
00:12:33You know, perhaps I really should go in to see the doctor.
00:12:36He's expecting me.
00:12:37Miss Beal.
00:12:37I have something very unpleasant to tell you.
00:12:41We've, uh, we've had a tragedy here.
00:12:44We've lost Dr. Stevens.
00:12:46He was viciously attacked by one of the patients and he died shortly afterwards.
00:12:51So you can see this is just not the time to discuss any of this.
00:12:55Well, surely you can understand how his death has greatly changed things.
00:13:00Naturally, I've taken over in his place.
00:13:04But since I wasn't informed about your coming here,
00:13:06I feel no need to keep any minor commitment that he may have made.
00:13:11Well, certainly not now.
00:13:13You see, I'm, uh, I'm changing some administrative objectives.
00:13:19And, uh, what Dr. Stevens had in mind may not be exactly what I'm planning.
00:13:25Well, not now.
00:13:27I just can't believe Dr. Stevens is dead.
00:13:30We have to accept that, Miss Beal.
00:13:33I just don't believe you could be of any help right now.
00:13:37Dr. Masters, I gave up a perfectly good job to come here.
00:13:41They wanted me to stay, but I left.
00:13:44What place are you talking about?
00:13:45Green Park General Hospital.
00:13:48I'm a supervisor of the...
00:13:50Now, I'm not questioning your qualifications.
00:13:53Did Dr. Stevens talk with your supervisor about your leaving?
00:13:56Oh, I'm sure he did.
00:13:59Besides, I showed, uh, then this letter of acceptance from Dr. Stevens.
00:14:11Then they, uh, knew about your coming here, then?
00:14:14Why, yes.
00:14:15Do you, uh, have any place to go from here, Miss Beal?
00:14:26Well, frankly, no.
00:14:28Unless, of course, Green Park would consider taking me back.
00:14:31I suppose I could tell them what's happened here about Dr. Stevens and about your taking over.
00:14:40Perhaps they would make some sort of consideration.
00:14:42Miss Beal, frankly, I, I, I have a very difficult decision.
00:14:49There have been some abnormal reactions with a few of the patients.
00:14:53Dr. Stevens trusted them.
00:14:55He treated them as though he were their father.
00:14:58So, realistically, this has been a death in the family.
00:15:00Now, my job is to recreate that trust.
00:15:03I doubt, seriously, the Green Park would take you back and it would be very awkward trying to explain all of this, so, uh...
00:15:12Well, since you're here and Dr. Stevens did make the commitment, I guess you might as well start in the morning.
00:15:19Thank you, Dr. Nestor.
00:15:21Now, you must understand that I'm not offering you anything of a permanent nature.
00:15:25It takes a very special attitude to work here.
00:15:27Dr. Stevens told me that.
00:15:29Dr. Stevens believed that insanity was not a breaking away from reality, but rather a very complex series of obsessions.
00:15:40Psychiatrists have always tried to reverse that, you know, bring the patient back to normalcy.
00:15:44But Dr. Stevens believed the opposite.
00:15:45He believed that these obsessions could be pushed, forced, to grow so large, so ominous,
00:15:54that the patient would have to use his own strength to destroy them.
00:15:57Dr. Stevens, really? That's a very interesting theory.
00:16:02We live and work very simply here, Miss Beale.
00:16:06Our patients are all people who are unloved, unwanted, forgotten.
00:16:13So we're a family.
00:16:15They're a family.
00:16:16And everyone helps with the chores.
00:16:18Well, now, I'll show you to your room.
00:16:21I'm afraid there's no connecting back.
00:16:23I'll take it.
00:16:30Well, this is it.
00:16:46I hope you'll be comfortable.
00:16:47I have a lot of things to do now, so if you'll come into my office in the morning, we can go over your routine.
00:16:52Thank you, Dr. Masters.
00:16:53Good night.
00:16:54Oh, Dr. Masters, where are the patient's rooms?
00:16:58Oh, they're right next to yours.
00:16:59And upstairs.
00:17:01As I said before, we're a family, and it's for that reason there are no locks on any of the doors.
00:17:05Dr. Stevens didn't believe in the doctor-patient relationship.
00:17:08Good night.
00:17:10Good night.
00:17:10Good night.
00:17:10Good night.
00:17:40Good evening, dearie.
00:17:51You never should go rushing around like this alone.
00:17:58Get out.
00:17:59Get out.
00:18:01And never, never come back.
00:18:04Never.
00:18:05Get out?
00:18:06Why?
00:18:07Get out?
00:18:08There's no reason.
00:18:09Oh, there's plenty of reason.
00:18:16My name is Charlotte.
00:18:18What's yours?
00:18:19Up the airy mountain, down the rushing glen, you never can go hunting for fear of little men.
00:18:34Good morning, Harriet.
00:18:44Good morning, Harriet.
00:18:49Good morning, Harriet.
00:19:03These are just a few of our little family.
00:19:05You'll have an opportunity to meet them all later.
00:19:08Danny, behave.
00:19:10Behave, Dean.
00:19:11No, it's true.
00:19:20Dr. Stevens tells me what he wants.
00:19:23Sam.
00:19:24He's very sad this morning.
00:19:26Why is he sad, Sam?
00:19:28Because everything's changed now.
00:19:31Like that Miss Charlotte, and there's some others.
00:19:36My baby's very sleepy.
00:19:39Very sleepy.
00:19:45Charlotte's name is Miss Beale.
00:19:47That's what you're supposed to call her.
00:19:50Dr. Stevens calls her Miss Charlotte.
00:19:53He's very worried this morning.
00:19:55Oh, hush it up, Sam.
00:19:58Leave us alone.
00:20:08Sam.
00:20:09Jacob didn't say goodbye to you.
00:20:12She was a dope friend.
00:20:14Sam, it's time.
00:20:16Are you ready?
00:20:19Oh, shoot, Sergeant.
00:20:21Do I have to?
00:20:25Oh, all right.
00:20:32Prisoner's inside.
00:20:34Guard that door carefully.
00:20:35Oh, all right, Sergeant.
00:20:40Where do you want me to stand?
00:20:41Reggie?
00:20:43That's right.
00:20:45And you'll not leave.
00:20:51Oh, Sergeant.
00:20:53Are you coming back?
00:20:54That's Danny.
00:21:02That's Danny.
00:21:17Yes?
00:21:17The guard is posted, sir.
00:21:18The guard is posted, sir.
00:21:21Jennifer?
00:21:23Yes.
00:21:25The prisoner is secure, sir.
00:21:28Thank you, Sergeant.
00:21:29That was Sam's friend, Jaffe.
00:21:35Yes, we call him Sergeant.
00:21:40Difficult case, war.
00:21:43He was or is a real sergeant.
00:21:46His platoon was lost in combat because of something he did.
00:21:52His prisoner, as he calls her, is Jennifer Downey.
00:21:57I want you to watch her very carefully.
00:21:59Spend some time with her.
00:22:01Several times she's attempted to escape.
00:22:04Escape?
00:22:05In the sergeant's jargon to break confinement.
00:22:09Sam, I've told you not to interrupt me when I'm busy.
00:22:12But, Dini, what do you want me to do?
00:22:14Sam, I'll talk to you about it later.
00:22:15Go on, now.
00:22:16Go on.
00:22:19And that's Sam.
00:22:22Sam.
00:22:25Sam is a lovable child.
00:22:27He's been a patient of Dr. Stevens for several years.
00:22:29And Dr. Stevens operated on him three, you know, four years ago.
00:22:35Dr. Stevens allowed me to assist him in that operation.
00:22:39Drilling through the frontal lobe left Sam harmless,
00:22:43but with the mentality of an eight-year-old.
00:22:46That was the last lobotomy Dr. Stevens ever did.
00:22:49And it was because of that operation that Dr. Stevens turned from surgery
00:22:53to his obsession development theory.
00:22:55Tell me about Alison King.
00:22:58Alison?
00:23:00Let's see.
00:23:02Alison has had a very unfortunate past.
00:23:06She was very close to her father, and he died.
00:23:08She was 13.
00:23:10Then her mother remarried a man that Alison absolutely cherished,
00:23:13and he left.
00:23:15And that was the beginning of the pattern.
00:23:17Alison tried to love other men,
00:23:19and they were cruel to her, and they left her,
00:23:21and she almost gave up.
00:23:23It's a classic pattern, isn't it?
00:23:29Then Alison met a man.
00:23:32She thought he was perfect.
00:23:33He loved her, and they lived together,
00:23:36but he used her.
00:23:38He sold her to other men.
00:23:39Well, her love for him smoothed that over.
00:23:43But then someone came along that was younger and prettier,
00:23:46and he threw her out.
00:23:48And that was the breaking point.
00:23:50What is her attitude now?
00:23:53She craves love.
00:23:55Desperately.
00:23:56From anyone.
00:23:57Everyone.
00:23:59And these others, Harriet and Mr. Cameron?
00:24:03Judge Cameron.
00:24:04My name is Oliver W. Cameron.
00:24:08Juris consult.
00:24:10Judicator of the Court of Appeals.
00:24:13Doctor of jurisprudence.
00:24:18What are you doing in my room?
00:24:22Well, I really dig all that mumbo-jumbo.
00:24:27You know, it's just quality.
00:24:30What is that odor?
00:24:31What is that odor?
00:24:33Strawberry.
00:24:35Do you like strawberries?
00:24:40Ripe strawberries of the color of blood.
00:24:50Taste me.
00:24:52Please.
00:24:53Taste me.
00:24:54I can be anything you want.
00:25:01To be carnally minded is death.
00:25:03Come on.
00:25:05I do taste like strawberries.
00:25:07Taste me.
00:25:09Trout your nakedness.
00:25:11You're obscene.
00:25:14I'm warm and I'm loving.
00:25:16I'm loving.
00:25:18I'm passion.
00:25:19You love me.
00:25:21There's not a man anywhere
00:25:22who doesn't really love my body and soul.
00:25:26Slut.
00:25:27You freak.
00:25:33You don't want to be judged
00:25:35because you're so damn pure.
00:25:38You phony freak.
00:25:40You're trembling.
00:25:40Look at you.
00:25:41You're hotfoot,
00:25:42but you can't reach out.
00:25:43You can't reach out.
00:25:45You can't love.
00:25:46You can't make it.
00:25:47But I can't.
00:25:52Rejection can be a very painful experience.
00:25:55Well, I'll tell you about the others later,
00:25:58but right now,
00:25:59I'd like you to start with Mrs. Cellingham.
00:26:02Oh, yes.
00:26:03Mrs. Cellingham is the one
00:26:04who occasionally hallucinates.
00:26:06Oh, yes.
00:26:06She has a number of interesting worlds.
00:26:09Why don't you take her for a walk?
00:26:10She likes the flowers.
00:26:12She sometimes believes they're her children.
00:26:15It's pleasant here,
00:26:16don't you think, Mrs. Cellingham?
00:26:19Do you get out often?
00:26:20It's you who need to get out.
00:26:24Yes, I remember.
00:26:25You were going to tell me why.
00:26:27Oh, up the airy mountain,
00:26:32down the rushing glen,
00:26:35we cannot go hunting
00:26:38because of little men.
00:26:42Oh, Bobby Allen Lester.
00:26:51Operator.
00:27:12Operator.
00:27:15Operator.
00:27:16Operator.
00:27:17Operator.
00:27:19Oh, Sam.
00:27:21I didn't hear you come in.
00:27:23Dr. Stevens.
00:27:24He don't call on the phone anymore.
00:27:27Sam,
00:27:28I know how much Dr. Stevens liked you.
00:27:31Dr. Stevens wants us happy.
00:27:34He said I should tell you.
00:27:36Sam, I understand.
00:27:38Dr. Stevens is still very real for you.
00:27:42Oh, Miss Charlotte,
00:27:43I forget what the doctor told me to tell you.
00:27:46I know the minute.
00:27:48Sam, it's all right.
00:27:49I understand.
00:28:01Come in.
00:28:03Sorry to bother you when you're busy.
00:28:05Oh, that's all right.
00:28:06Have a chair.
00:28:07It's about my phone.
00:28:08Well, patients seem to be accepting you.
00:28:11That's important.
00:28:12I suppose you've noticed that it's the little things that count most with him,
00:28:16especially Danny and, of course, Sam.
00:28:18You're very fond of Sam, aren't you?
00:28:21Yes, very.
00:28:23Dr. Stevens was very close to him, too.
00:28:26Sam's lost his intelligence,
00:28:28but he has very deep feelings,
00:28:30perhaps deeper than ours.
00:28:32Oh, Dr. Masters, I...
00:28:34Oh, don't be alarmed.
00:28:37This is Jennifer.
00:28:39Occasionally she becomes very withdrawn,
00:28:40and naturally I like her to be with me when that happens.
00:28:43Is she beyond help?
00:28:45Beyond help?
00:28:47To say that means that we've given up,
00:28:49and we never give up.
00:28:50No one's beyond us.
00:28:51We're always getting closer.
00:28:53Yes, of course.
00:28:54Please don't misunderstand.
00:28:55Oh, I understand.
00:28:58Well, it's time to be getting them to bed.
00:29:00I promised Sam that I'd read to them.
00:29:02Would you mind seeing to the others?
00:29:03No, of course not.
00:29:05Dr. Masters,
00:29:06I hope you'll forgive my statement about Jennifer.
00:29:08I simply may, but I...
00:29:09It's just that you're not quite used to all our little family yet, Miss Beale.
00:29:14One day you'll be as close to them as brothers and sisters.
00:29:17Good night.
00:29:18Good night.
00:29:20Dr. Masters,
00:29:20Before I forget,
00:29:22I wanted to tell you that my phone is not working.
00:29:24I was wondering if you were having the same trouble.
00:29:26Oh.
00:29:28Well, that occasionally happens.
00:29:29I'll try to take care of it.
00:29:31Good night.
00:29:32Good night.
00:29:32Good night.
00:29:49Good night, Harriet.
00:29:50She's asleep.
00:29:53And it's time you should be asleep, too.
00:29:56Good night.
00:30:12That's enough for tonight, Mrs. Cellingham.
00:30:14Oh.
00:30:15You liked that walk in the garden, didn't you?
00:30:20Yes, I did.
00:30:22Well, don't be surprised if we never go again.
00:30:28Don't mind my observing.
00:30:30You handled Mrs. Cellingham very well.
00:30:33Better than some of the others.
00:30:34Who are you?
00:30:48Damn.
00:30:53No.
00:30:53I don't know.
00:30:55I don't know.
00:30:56Good morning, Jennifer.
00:31:26Mrs. Callingham!
00:31:33My God, what's happened?
00:31:39Mrs. Callingham!
00:31:42Your dog's been cut out!
00:31:47Take it easy. Here, drink this.
00:31:51Look, you've got to understand that ours is a family of persons who know very few limits.
00:31:55Even the limits of physical pain.
00:31:57When Mrs. Callingham did this to herself, she was probably beyond the threshold of physical feeling.
00:32:03My greatest concern about her is the blood that she's lost. She's very weak.
00:32:09I don't hold up very well, do I?
00:32:14I'm sorry.
00:32:16It's just the thought of our old being asleep.
00:32:18She was probably hallucinating.
00:32:21Self-infliction of pain, self-disfigurement, sometimes that indicates that the patient has transcended the body.
00:32:27Oh, what would Dr. Stevens have done in a case such as this?
00:32:30Exactly as I'm doing, calling as little attention to it as possible.
00:32:35Now she's received treatment. Now she has to accept what she's done.
00:32:40For the time being, I wouldn't discuss this with any of the others.
00:32:46Dr. Masters, aren't you ever afraid?
00:32:52I'm always afraid.
00:32:56Hello? Anybody here?
00:33:11Hello?
00:33:12Hello?

00:43:18I don't know what happened.
00:43:19What is she doing, Doctor?
00:43:22I thought you said Jennifer was withdrawn.
00:43:25Withdrawal is an acute reaction to her real condition.
00:43:29Doctor Masters, perhaps I shouldn't have come here at all.
00:43:34I don't think there's any point in our talking about your leaving, Miss Beale.
00:43:37You forget you were very anxious to take this job.
00:43:39I made special provisions for you to be here.
00:43:41I realized that, but I don't know what to do.
00:43:44I'm the doctor, and you're the nurse, and what I do decides what you will do.
00:43:48I'm all right now.
00:43:59I just need to get some rest.
00:44:01Many a carcass they left to be carrying.
00:44:19Many a livid one.
00:44:20Many a sallow skin.
00:44:22Left for the white-tailed eagle to tear it.
00:44:25Left for the horny-nibbed raven to rend it.
00:44:35And gave to the garbaging warhole to gorge it in that grey beast.
00:44:45The wolf of the weald.
00:44:46Some night soon.
00:44:50The doctor's going to help you, Judge Cameron.
00:44:55Gibberish.
00:44:57The doctor will help you.
00:45:03Masters has nothing to give me.
00:45:05I ain't talking about Dini.
00:45:07I doubt that you know what it is you are talking about.
00:45:17I wish you would go.
00:45:20Dr. Stevens knows Miss Charlotte.
00:45:22And Miss Charlotte knows Dr. Stevens.
00:45:26That's right.
00:45:27He's going to help her, too.
00:45:30He don't want to hear just now.
00:45:32Danny wants her, though.
00:45:35Danny told me.
00:45:38Of course Masters doesn't want Beal to leave, you idiot.
00:45:41Sometimes Dr. Stevens tells me about Miss Charlotte.
00:45:45Yeah.
00:45:58I killed Dr. Stevens.
00:46:02With my axe.
00:46:05Sam!
00:46:07Sam!
00:46:09What are you doing in here?
00:46:10Now, you haven't finished your chores.
00:46:11I want you to go sweep the kitchen.
00:46:14Then can I have a popsicle?
00:46:15Yes, you can have a popsicle.
00:46:23Oh, Sam's beautiful, isn't he, Judge?
00:46:27No past, no future, only the present.
00:46:29For him, Dr. Stevens will always be in the present.
00:46:34Wish we could all think of him that way.
00:46:40Judge?
00:46:42Judge, your floor is dirty.
00:46:44Now, it's your responsibility to keep your room clean.
00:46:48I want you to take care of it now.
00:46:51You've had a real baby once, didn't you, honey?
00:47:01This is my baby.
00:47:04Jeez, I feel sorry for you.

00:53:19Get out!
00:53:24Get out!
00:53:26What was that shouting all about?
00:53:49Sergeant, I've told every one of you about this sort of thing, but you refuse to adhere to my discipline.
00:53:57Haven't I told you what time the lights are to be out at night in every room?
00:54:00Yes, sir, you have.
00:54:01I take it, then, that you're contesting my discipline. Is that it?
00:54:09Answer me.
00:54:12My authority here in the sanitarium is going to remain absolute, unchallenged, and totally unimpeachable.
00:54:18Do you understand?
00:54:18I've got a friend.
00:54:19I've got a friend.
00:54:28I've got a friend.
00:54:41Hold out your hand.
00:55:01I hate to punish anyone.
00:55:04I love it.
00:55:06My domain here is going to never be challenged again.
00:55:10Do you understand?
00:55:11My office, my profession, my charge, my liability, my suffering for your good.
00:55:22Never to take the fine balance of all that ever again.
00:55:25Good night, Sergeant.
00:55:43Good night.
00:55:44Good night.
00:56:46What could be troubling you this early?
00:56:48A whole lot of things, Miss Charlotte.
00:56:51Oh? Such as what?
00:56:54Dr. Stevens.
00:56:56He's worried about things.
00:56:58Oh, I see.
00:57:01He wanted me to talk to you.
00:57:03What have you got there?
00:57:11Where did you get this?
00:57:12Who gave me this, Sam?
00:57:21He said you'd know.
00:57:22You'd understand.
00:57:24He wants to help you, Miss Charlotte.
00:57:27Who wants to help me?
00:57:29What are you talking about?
00:57:32The doctor.
00:57:35Oh, Dr. Stevens, I suppose.
00:57:39Well, thank you very much, Sam.
00:57:42But I think we should talk less foolishly about all this.
00:57:45I'm the only one who could take me a shot.
00:57:52Dr. Stevens is going to help you if you take the watch.
00:57:56This kind of day seems to take away all your troubles.
00:58:22For a while, anyway.
00:58:30Do you have a family, Daddy?
00:58:35I thought you mentioned your mother once.
00:58:37Where did you live when you were young?
00:58:44Miami Beach.
