00:00I'm building the world's largest Spongebob.

00:01Last week I got invited to the Kids' Choice Awards to celebrate Spongebob's 25th birthday.

00:05And to surprise the cast of the show, they challenged me to make the world's largest Spongebob.

00:09We're going to build this giant Spongebob in five steps, starting with the framing.

00:12Once it's framed, we'll sculpt it, paint it, and finally drive it all the way to California before standing it with massive cranes.

00:17We started by cutting the wood into the perfect Spongebob shapes.

00:20All of this framing is just for the front side of Spongebob.

00:23We're making the wood frame of Spongebob using three different shapes.

00:26This is one of the giant sides for our Spongebob.

00:28Once we go to the Nickelodeon headquarters, we'll actually grab this side and lift it all the way up into the sky.

00:32Now that we've made our wood frame, we can start working on Spongebob's face using foam.

00:38Spongebob's eye is so big, I can fit my entire body inside of it.

00:42The entire cast and crew of Spongebob will be at this event, so it's really important we make it look perfect.

00:46If I did this right, it should come off.

00:49Perfect!

00:49We only have a few days left to build Spongebob in our warehouse before we have to start driving it to California where his party is.

00:55That looks like cheese.

00:58Doesn't taste like it, though.

00:59Each one of these pieces are designed to fit exactly like a puzzle, and this one goes right there.

01:03After gluing the foam into place, we're going to make Spongebob smile just like this.

01:06Cheese!

01:09That looks so good!

01:11Now he has a giant smile.

01:12We won't be needing this piece anymore.

01:15I hope we didn't need that.

01:16We've perfectly cut out all of the iconic Spongebob holes, and now his mouth.

01:20Now we can start adding all the other details.

01:21Spongebob has a ton of different details that we need to make to bring him to life, so we're going to start sculpting them.

01:26One of those details is that he's got four fingers, not five.

01:29I've studied his character model in video games, examined them up and down, looked at the toes, the fingers, all that.

01:35The toes?

01:36Yeah, the toes.

01:37Let's get started!

01:43I'm going to grab these foam blocks and start laying them out in the general shape of Spongebob's hands, then we'll start doing the details.

01:48This is going to be his thumb.

01:50I'm actually super stressed about this project because the entire cast of Spongebob is going to be at his birthday party, so this needs to be perfect.

01:56Perfect like my doll.

02:01You got it on the camera.

02:02Sorry.

02:05These fingers are looking a little square.

02:06I've got to start shaping them round and smooth, like me, with the ladies.

02:10I have a girlfriend, actually.

02:17I promise this isn't in slow motion, this is how slow this takes.

02:25Oh, wait, I need four.

02:27After making the hands, we started sculpting Spongebob's shoes and continued work on his body, but there's a massive problem.

02:32We have four days until Spongebob's birthday.

02:34We have to complete the build here, drive it all the way out to California, and then stand this massive thing up with cranes and all sorts of crazy equipment.

02:41I'm going to start sanding everything in here, making it look like Spongebob.

02:52We're supposed to leave in the morning to start driving to California where Spongebob's birthday is, and this looks nothing like Spongebob right now.

02:59We still have to sculpt it, but before we do that, I'm going to call my friend Marco because he's an amazing YouTube artist, and he can help me out.

03:04We have been busy working on a project, so I want to see if you can guess what we're building.

03:09What do you think this is?

03:14Oh, it's slime.

03:15It's a slime puddle.

03:16A slime puddle?

03:17I think we might actually let Nickelodeon down.

03:18This is supposed to be a massive Spongebob.

03:21First of all, you've got to make it yellow.

03:23If it was yellow, I would have known what it was.

03:24Definitely need to paint it, sculpt it, sand it, sand it up, and then make it 3D.

03:29Spongebob's party is in three days.

03:30Okay, why are you going to vote me?

03:35We need you to make this look like Spongebob's eye.

03:37Really?

03:38Hey, you might want to step back.

03:40This will be a lot of math.

03:42Yep.

03:43I don't think that's doing anything.

03:45Do you know what the kids' choice words are?

03:47That's where we're going.

03:50After hours of hard work sculpting and sanding.

03:52I know this doesn't look like Spongebob right now, but I can assure you at the end of this video, it's going to look amazing.

03:57Our plan was to have the entire Spongebob painted and ready to go before we left for California.

04:01We're running out of time, so we have to put it in the truck and start heading to California.

04:04We're going to have to finish everything once we're at Spongebob's party.

04:08We're not even inside of the truck, and we already have all of this damage right here.

04:13It's not supposed to do that.

04:17The truck is completely full, but we still have a ton of stuff on the inside of our warehouse for Spongebob,

04:21so the only way we're going to be able to bring everything is if we run a trailer.

04:24But since it's 5 o'clock in the morning, they don't open for a few hours.

04:27Now we have to waste even more time just sitting here waiting.

04:33The rental place just opened, so I'm giving them a call.

04:35Do you guys happen to have a 20-foot U-Haul by chance?

04:37We'd like to pick it up right now, if possible.

04:39I just got off the phone with the rental place.

04:41They do have a 20-foot truck, so we're going to take it here, and then we can start driving.

04:45We were supposed to leave like 14 hours ago, so we're going to load this truck up as quick as possible and get on the road.

04:50We can't afford to have anything else break.

04:51We've got to be very careful.

04:52We already lost so much time.

04:55I'm going to help you guys load.

04:57Take that, put it in the truck.

04:58Oh, yeah, that too.

05:16We just realized that our truck leaks water, so Uncle Dave's fixing it with tape.

05:32I'm happy we made it, but I'm tired.

05:34And the work's just getting started.

05:36We still have to stand our giant SpongeBob, paint him, and fix any of the repairs.

05:39I hope SpongeBob is okay back there.

05:44After a long drive, we are officially here at the Nickelodeon Kid Choice Awards.

05:48Soon, this entire area will be transformed into a giant event filled with celebrities

05:52that I'll be surprising with our giant SpongeBob.

05:54This is where all the celebrities are going to come and take their photos on the orange carpet.

05:57They just said I can roll out the orange carpet.

05:59Happy birthday, SpongeBob.

06:01After rolling out the exclusive orange carpet, it was time to start unloading our giant SpongeBob.

06:05Now it's time for the moment of truth to open up both of our trucks

06:08to see how much damage has actually been done.

06:10I'm actually really terrified.

06:14We have some damages on the shoe right there.

06:16Nothing that's not fixable.

06:17We just don't have a lot of time.

06:20Oh!

06:23There is some massive holes inside of the nose right here.

06:26I have a feeling we have to start repairing everything.

06:27This entire thing is just cracked on the whole side right there.

06:30Nickelodeon's going to be really surprised when these panels aren't painted,

06:33but we're a little bit behind.

06:34This is one of the most important parts right here.

06:35It's SpongeBob's lip, and it completely broke off.

06:37So what I'm going to do is glue it back into place.

06:39After making repairs to our SpongeBob,

06:41the next step is to build a giant metal frame to support the inside

06:43to make sure it doesn't fall over at the part.

06:45This is the first piece to the base of our SpongeBob.

06:50Hey, bud.

06:50If you need help driving this thing, I'm forklift certified.

06:53I don't think with that Squidward hat you are, bud.

06:57Now that we have this steel frame in place,

06:59we're going to start covering it with our panels

07:00to make it look more like SpongeBob.

07:01Right now, we have two SpongeBob panels added.

07:04We have 32 more to go, though.

07:05This SpongeBob is actually so heavy.

07:07Whoa.

07:08Be careful.

07:09This looks really good.

07:10It just needs to go that way a little bit.

07:13I don't think that worked at all.

07:14We have to lift this entire side up so it matches.

07:19Perfect.

07:20Okay.

07:20So now we just have to screw it in right here.

07:21It's really crazy because back at our warehouse,

07:23we were building all this on the ground,

07:24so this is the first time we've actually seen it standing.

07:26Hopefully, all of our measurements are right.

07:28We're progressing very slow,

07:29and then we have nine hours left to build our SpongeBob.

07:31All of the project managers keep looking at us.

07:34I can tell they're losing trust in us.

07:35This is a massive project to take on.

07:37I've never really done anything like this before.

07:39There's a lot of pressure on the line right now.

07:40The problem we're facing right now

07:41is that top right panel right there

07:43is just a little bit off,

07:44so we have to unscrew the entire thing,

07:46which means nothing will be holding it

07:47besides me inside with a strap.

07:52We've got to go back a little bit.

08:02and this is taking forever.

08:03Okay, well, the second one was way easier

08:05than the first one.

08:06I think they're getting the hang of it.

08:07We need to keep moving fast

08:08because we only have eight hours

08:09until the voice actor of SpongeBob

08:10will be here for me to surprise.

08:12They're almost completely finished

08:13shutting up SpongeBob's birthday.

08:14The only thing they're waiting on is for us,

08:16and we still don't have his eyes,

08:18nose, hands, legs,

08:19and it's not painted.

08:20There's some really bad cracks on our SpongeBob

08:22from it traveling here,

08:23so we're going around and fixing those right now.

08:25Now, once we paint over that,

08:26you'll never know if this was in different sections.

08:27SpongeBob is actually not a perfect square shape,

08:29so we're adding some triangles

08:30on the top of both sides

08:32to give it the proper SpongeBob shape.

08:33Each one of these pieces is so heavy,

08:35we need this giant equipment.

08:36We have to walk these in very slow.

08:37We don't have the time to break anything.

08:39I'm not even joking.

08:40If this actually starts to drop,

08:41we need to run away.

08:42Aye, aye, Captain.

08:44Watch your fingers.

08:45Guys, let's go a little higher to the left.

08:54We've made a ton of progress

08:55on our massive SpongeBob,

08:56but now it's time to start bringing him to life,

08:58so we're going to add his nose.

09:01Hey, SpongeBob.

09:02I got your nose.

09:04I think it's way bigger than I thought.

09:05It's not as big as me, but it's close.

09:07Our entire SpongeBob is covered besides one panel.

09:10Let's get this up there.

09:12A little bit to the left.

09:15Right there.

09:17Perfect.

09:17I'm not in there because I'm afraid of heights.

09:19Maybe in my younger days, I would get up there.

09:21It's time to add some color on this SpongeBob.

09:23Let's lift it up.

09:25We're running out of time until SpongeBob's birthday party starts,

09:27so I got some friends to help.

09:29Normally, I make fish tanks,

09:30but today, I'm helping Matthew.

09:32It's going to take forever to paint this,

09:33but I'm dedicated.

09:34You know, that's not supposed to be yellow, right?

09:36You don't wear yellow pants?

09:37No, he wears brown pants.

09:39In order to reach the top of our SpongeBob,

09:41me and Aaron are going to pick up Uncle Dave

09:42and lift him up there.

09:43Oh, I'd like to see that.

09:45I got this point.

09:47Okay, he'll be done in 10 minutes.

09:48You don't have any paint on your roller.

09:51I think I found a simpler solution.

09:53Oh.

09:54I haven't been that far off the ground since high school.

09:57It's time for lunch.

09:59Earlier, everyone was really nervous

10:00that this wasn't going to be like SpongeBob.

10:01Now, everyone is surrounding it, taking pictures.

10:03I'm reaching as high as I can,

10:05and I'm not even close to the top.

10:08SpongeBob's nose might be his most iconic feature,

10:10and I'm about to paint it.

10:11We don't have a lot of time,

10:15so I'm just painting everything.

10:17Missed a spot.

10:19The event is happening at any time.

10:20We actually have to finish this very fast

10:22because we have to change and look nice for the party,

10:24and we need to make sure our SpongeBob looks nice.

10:25To speed things up as fast as possible,

10:27we have this little paint station back here

10:28painting all of SpongeBob's detail.

10:31We have SpongeBob's teeth right here.

10:33I'm going to start adding all of the small details

10:34to really start to transform this build.

10:37That looks so good.

10:39Now, this is looking like SpongeBob.

10:40This entire event is all set up looking amazing

10:42for SpongeBob's birthday.

10:44Unfortunately, we still have some details to add on ours,

10:46like the legs, arms, and most importantly, the eyes.

10:55We have SpongeBob's giant socks and shoes.

10:57What are you doing?

10:58Just checking if it was a sock, yeah.

11:01Yeah.

11:02This build is so massive.

11:03SpongeBob's shoes are almost as tall as I am.

11:06Now he looks nice and fancy for his birthday.

11:08I'm so scared.

11:09I really hope I don't ruin this.

11:11Okay, I think that looks good.

11:13Okay, we have to put another skirt on the other side.

11:16This entire place looks so much different

11:18than when we started.

11:18This is the tank my friend Aquarium Info built for SpongeBob.

11:21I got to hand it to her.

11:22He looks really good.

11:23Now it's time to add the eyes.

11:25One giant eyeball incoming.

11:27Right now, they're cutting a hole in the eye

11:29so it fits properly.

11:31We're trying to make sure that this eyeball

11:33is in the perfect spot so the other one fits.

11:35Let's go over just a little bit to your right.

11:36It'll be safer.

11:37Drill it in.

11:39One eye down.

11:40One more to go.

11:40We're putting the second eye into place right now.

11:42Once we lower it down,

11:43we're going to paint the two pupils,

11:44and we'll finally be done.

11:49The eye is in the right place.

11:50Now they just got to secure it.
