01:49everyone are you ready to make some healthy snacks for the surprise party at the hospital yeah well
01:56look I found some lovely ingredients that we can use so let's go and have a look in my cookbook

02:00see we can find a recipe come on what's in my cookbook let's have a look what tasty treats are
02:10we going to cook oh look at those we are going to make funky beet muffins today and our friends

02:21the hospital are going to love these but before we get started on the cooking what have we got to

02:26first wash our hands we've got to wash our hands come on everyone
02:36roll up your sleeves give your hands a wash with slippy dippy soap splish splash
02:42have you done your hand washed and dried sleeves rolled up apron tied what can you do I can cook
02:54well we've washed our hands so let's get started now the first thing we're going to do team to make
02:59our funky beetroot muffins is crack an egg now an egg like this comes from a dinosaur no chicken yes

03:08does silly Katie I'm only joking it comes from a chicken so grab your egg and we're going to open
03:17it up and I'll show you how you go knock knock knock you make a little crack and then you
03:23use your
03:23thumbs to open it up like this whoop there we go say knock knock knock knock knock knock knock and

03:31you go whoop brilliant team you did that perfectly next everyone we're going to add the lovely juicy
03:38orange juice so splash that in two after three one two three splash and now everyone give everything
03:47a really good mix so take your fork and off you go oh mine's going like a yellow bubble bath

03:58and can you whisk too I knew you could all right grab your bowl that's it you got your fork
04:04and then
04:05go whisk whisk whisk excellent keep going everyone and when it's all whisked up you can stop and we're
04:15going to call this bowl everyone our wet bowl and we're just going to pop it to one side for
04:20now
04:22now does anybody know what this is that's right it's beetroot and do you know if beetroot grows above
04:30the ground or below the ground what it grows below the ground that's right because it's a root vegetable
04:36and it's going to give our muffins such an amazing red color okay now you can use fresh beetroot but
04:43today we're going to use cooked beetroot and we're going to grate it in pairs okay so one person pop
04:49your
04:49beetroot into the top of your grater like this and then one person push down on the top like that
04:55and the other person turn the handle out it comes oh wow look at it coming out of the grater
05:05and if any of the beetroot gets stuck just use your fork to scrape it out like this
05:13and once you've done your beetroot just pop it in your wet bowl
05:18and now it's time to give everything a really good mix so off you go everyone
05:24that looks fantastic okay everyone stop mixing and pop your wet bowl to one side
05:31next we're going to take a bowl of flour and to this bowl of flour we're going to add something
05:35called baking powder now who wants to know a secret yeah do you want to know a secret okay everyone
05:43say
05:46baking powder is magic it is because when you put baking powder in a recipe
05:52it magically makes everything rise up like this
06:00why don't you pretend to rise up with us ready everyone get down low
06:09all right everyone let's add a teaspoon of baking powder to our flour take a teaspoon
06:16and then just sprinkle it into your bowl sprinkle sprinkle
06:21next we're going to add some lovely seeds now do you know what kind of seeds these are
06:27sunflower seeds come on everyone let's sprinkle them in two there we go
06:32and then finally we're going to add something called a mixed spice a mixed spice has got a really
06:38lovely smell why don't you all have a smell and tell me what you think
06:43oh josie what do you think ginger ginger it smells like ginger that's because it's actually got ginger in
06:49it was lovely now we're not going to add all of this we're only going to add a teaspoon so
06:54grab your
06:55teaspoons load it up and then pop it into your bowl
07:01there we go and because all the ingredients in this bowl are dry we're going to call it our dry
07:06bowl
07:06and the next thing we're going to do is add the wet bowl to our dry bowl and this is
07:11my very very
07:12very favorite part so grab your wet bowl and after three we're going to put it into the bowl with
07:18a big
07:19splosh ready one two three splosh
07:26oh i've got some beetroot left over in mine so just use a spoon to scrape it out
07:32and then we're going to give everything a really really good mix so off you go
07:40that's it it looks beautiful it's going a lovely pink color where's the flower gone
07:47hiding it's hiding i want pumpkin seeds and once everything's really well mixed together
07:55we're going to play the two spoon game and i'll show you how to do it you scoop up the
08:01mixture
08:02and then you use your other spoon to slide it off into your muffin tin
08:07slide so we scoop and slide all right everyone off you go scoop and slide scoop and slide
08:24and that's it guys you've done it you've made your funky beet muffins and you've done it all by
08:29yourselves and all we've got to do now is pop these in the oven to cook
08:35and josie these look amazing
08:46now remember the oven is hot so don't go near you need to ask a grown-up to help you

08:53now we can't have a party without any party decorations can we
08:56but i wonder where my friend is to help me make them

09:08everyone whilst the muffins are in the oven cooking why don't you go and see mr maker

09:27let's make some foil fruit decorations but first we'll need somewhere to make them

09:49let's make some foil fruit decorations and to do that we will need some kitchen foil
09:55yellow tissue paper some gloopy glue some sticky tape a pen and a paintbrush a glue stick some googly eyes
10:05and a small piece of ribbon
10:06now the first thing we're going to do is take some foil there we are that's it and then open
10:13it up onto the table
10:20now we're going to take a piece of ribbon and we're going to make a loop and stick it to
10:26the top of the foil
10:28now this can be a little bit fiddly so you might want to help each other

10:40now we need to scrunch up the foil into the shape of the fruit that we want to make
10:46and today we're going to make bananas
10:52and remember to keep the loop at the top because that's how we're going to hang it up later
10:58keep scrunching but don't squeeze it too tightly
11:02because we want to see the shape of the banana
11:05is yours a banana yet?
11:07nearly
11:09when you've finished hold up your bananas
11:11there we are good work mini makers
11:14and now we need to colour in our bananas
11:17now what colour are bananas?
11:19yellow
11:21that's right
11:22so let's use some yellow tissue paper
11:26now we need to tear this tissue paper into very small pieces
11:30and put them in the bowl
11:35perfect
11:36I'll do that
11:37one last piece there
11:38pick up your bananas everybody
11:41and we're going to cover the banana in gloopy glue
11:44use a brush for this
11:46that's it
11:49cover the whole thing
11:53well done
11:55very good
11:56okay everyone put your brushes down into the bowls
12:00and now we're going to start sticking on tissue paper
12:04that's it mini makers
12:06so just push on the paper like that
12:09and our banana will start to take shape
12:13this is a bit sticky isn't it

12:16so we're going to cover the whole thing now aren't we

12:25and now we need to leave this to dry
12:28it can take quite a while
12:30but today we're going to use some maker magic

12:37and now we can finish off our bananas
12:40by using a brown pen
12:42to add some extra detail
12:43here we go
12:47lots and lots of wiggly lines
12:53and now for a finishing touch
12:56let's add some googly eyes
12:58so use your glue stick
13:00and put a little bit of glue on the googly eyes first
13:03and then hold your banana like this
13:04in one hand
13:06and then stick it onto your banana
13:09and we have one very funny looking finished banana
13:17well done everyone

13:19we've made a funny foil fruit decoration
13:22and there are some other ideas that you could try too
13:25how about this juicy orange
13:28made with orange tissue paper
13:30and stickers
13:31or how about this tasty apple
13:33made with a pipe cleaner stalk
13:35and cardboard leaves
13:37or you could try these delicious strawberries
13:40with paint blobs for seeds
13:41and leaves made of felt
