WATCH: Redback Racing student Daniel Tang talking about the opportunties the project from the University of New South Wales offers future engineering students.

00:00Hey, we're Redback Racing from UNSW. We're just here at Albury High School today to share some
00:05of the knowledge that we have as students. Many of us are also engineers and also are fourth year
00:10and very experienced students and we're just here to show off the car. The car looks amazing. It's a
00:14fully electric racing car and we build on every single year and that's incredible because obviously
00:18our students we are very hands-on but I think beyond the racing car is actually getting to
00:21university and as a student myself I know how difficult that can be. You know, we did the HSC,
00:26we went for the whole ATAR system and especially as rural and regional students there's a lot more
00:30difficult beyond just academics. It's also traveling to Sydney and getting into the metro area and
00:35accommodation. So we're just here to share some of the scholarship opportunities and different
00:39pathways that are just beyond the marks and the rankings and the ATARs because we genuinely believe
00:43that students are a lot more than just what their numbers define them as. So we're here to share the
00:48Gateway Program. Essentially the Gateway Program gives eligible students like Albury High School
00:52here 10 to 15 reduction marks to any degree that they would like to do and so what that means for
00:58example is something like engineering that they're eligible to get an early offer or a conditional
01:01offer at 85 ATAR or there or thereabouts. But beyond that getting to university can be difficult and also
01:07settling with like accommodation options and so UNISW has those opportunities like accommodation
01:12scholarships and equity scholarships through financial means to support students once they get to
01:17university because the support doesn't end once they get to uni. It's also that continual help and effort.
01:21But beyond all those amazing things about getting uni is that there's this amazing race car. We do
01:26engineering, we build one every single year and it's about getting hands-on. Getting heads deep into
01:30your textbooks is not always the only way to learn and get into industry. It's also about getting hands-on,
01:36meeting new people and creating a great community. So yeah thanks to Albury High School for having us.
