00:00Hello and welcome to this South Australian Janesweather update for Friday.
00:04We have got a cold front that is barrelling towards the southeast that will plunge us into a wintry weekend.
00:10You may have enjoyed the spring-like weather we've had recently and may have thought we've turned a corner,
00:16but the answer to that is unfortunately no, the weather pattern has said nope, that's not happening,
00:20and instead we've got air that is coming up from near Antarctica to deal with as we move across the weekend.
00:25A speckled cloud here indicates just how chilly that air mass is.
00:30And it is moving on in.
00:32So let's have a look day by day.
00:33Here we have by Friday, that's moving through our cold fronts, we're 2-5mm, 5-10 in the southeast.
00:40Have a look at Saturday, the next one comes up, we're 2-5, 1-2, the bigger falls are offshore for Saturday.
00:46But let's have a look at Sunday, here's the next one coming up.
00:50That is our heaviest rainfall day across this system that is coming in, 5-10mm, maybe 10-15 as it comes in,
00:57and the cold pool that is associated with it.
01:00It's moving through southeast and parts of South Australia, west of Victoria and New South Wales.
01:04Watch that move as we go into Monday.
01:07So clearing out as the next high pressure system comes in through here, now it is New South Wales problem.
01:12We've still got some chilly air until the high can move properly out to the east.
01:16So let's watch that happen from Monday, we have our cold nights and slowly warming days.
01:22So by Tuesday, highs out through here, so we're looking at northeasterly winds.
01:26All the action is over here and starting to build in the west.
01:29So Tuesday, nothing for us.
01:31Wednesday, nothing for us.
01:32Thursday, nothing for us, but starting to see the next cloud come in.
01:36Then on Friday next week, we may see a bit of the next weather system ready to come through.
01:41So it's over the weekend, we take a break early next week, then we get that cloud at the end of it and maybe a little bit more wet weather.
01:48What is that going to add up to?
01:50Let's have a look here.
01:5110-15mm, 15-25 in the far southeast there, maybe 25-50 right on the coastline.
01:5815-25 around the Adelaide area.
02:00As you move further inland, yes, it does decrease as you'd expect these systems to do.
02:04There's no connection to tropical moisture.
02:06So it's a southeastern thing that will gradually decrease as you head inland.
02:11Let's have a look at what that means for Adelaide.
02:13Showers today on Friday, about 3mm left.
02:16Colder temperatures, the cold front is moving through.
02:1913 and then 11 across the weekend.
02:2211 on Sundays when that cold pool is overhead.
02:25And yes, it is going to feel bitter.
02:286mm, 7mm, that's the average across the weather models for Saturday and Sunday.
02:33Sunday does look to be one of the wet days and that is rain at times.
02:38So showers moving through, tending to steady activity.
02:41It is looking quite wet.
02:43That rapidly clears up for Monday.
02:45Mostly sunny, sunny, mostly sunny.
02:47We've got the cold nights that are coming in through here.
02:49But the days are slowly warming up.
02:51We're back into the high teens in Adelaide by Wednesday as that high moves out to the east.
02:57Then the cold nights disappear as the next cloud comes in.
03:00We might get a little bit of wet weather out of that one at this stage.
03:04As always, head to Faux Online Weather for the latest.
