00:00The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of the Philippine National Police has denied allegations that it withheld the affidavits of certain witnesses in the case of missing cockfighting enthusiasts.
00:11According to the CIDG, they did not submit the sworn statements to the Department of Justice because they were not the ones who gathered them.
00:18However, they said the witnesses are free to submit their affidavits directly to the DOJ.
00:22Meanwhile, DOJ Spokesperson Assistant Secretary Miko Clavano stated that even if the CIDG had submitted the affidavits, they would carry little weight, especially if they came from the defense team rather than the prosecution.
00:35To recall, the claim on the CIDG's failure to submit these affidavits, specifically those against Julie Patedongan, also known as Totoy, was made by the lawyer of one of the accused police officers in the case.
