We visited the King Edward VI College in Dudley to see how students got on in their A-Level exams

Cheers of joy were heard all around as students opened their exam result packets at King Edward College in Dudley.

00:00So we're here outside of King Edward College as you can see the students are

00:03going in there ready to pick up their A-level results. So we're going to go in

00:07have a few talks, talk to the principal, see what the students are getting, happy

00:12faces potentially, hope, high aspirations. Potentially we have heard that some

00:17students have got accepted into Cambridge and Oxford so we're gonna go see what

00:20that's all about as well. Yeah come along and we can have a few

00:23chats to the students, see what their aspirations are, see those happy faces.

00:30I'm Chloe and I've got an offer for Veteran Medicine at Cambridge. Fantastic so

00:42what grades did you get then? A-star, A-star, A. That's absolutely brilliant what was it

00:46like opening the senior grades for the first time, what you got? I was really

00:51surprised, I thought I was gonna be scraping the requirements A-star, A-A so I

00:54was so pleased to see my grades, they're amazing yeah. That's fantastic and

00:58Cambridge I mean that's a really, that's quite respectable isn't it? Cambridge just a

01:02little bit yeah. Yeah I was, it's just been a whole surreal experience so like

01:06every single day I've opened the offer I've got the grades, every step has just

01:09been amazing I can't believe it. My name is George and I'm Tia. And Tia fantastic and if you don't mind just what grades did you get?

01:21I've got A-star, A-star, A-star, A-star, A-star as well.

01:25Ah brilliant, two friends really great. Yeah, Mac Jr. Absolutely so what's the future looking like? University?

01:31I'm taking a gap year so I'll like I'll get a job and figure out everything after that.

01:35Ah fantastic. I'm going to Union Exeter. Union Exeter? Yeah. Ah brilliant, nice university isn't it?

01:40Yeah I can't wait yeah. Excited? Yeah it's great, looking forward to it for a long time.

01:44That's fantastic and you excited for your gap year? Yeah, yeah it'll be fun. What's the idea? What's the idea?

01:48You got any idea of what sort of like aspirations you want to go on to?

01:50Um we'll have a see, I'm actually not sure yet. To be fair I wasn't even I ended up as a journalist.

01:56Yeah. What about yourself? Um doing a history degree, hopefully a year abroad. Oh fantastic.

02:01Hello I'm Holly, I'm the principal at King Eds and we're here on results day. Lots of people coming in,

02:08um lots of very high grades. We're sending students away to medicine courses, to Oxford, Cambridge.

02:15So we've had lots of smiling faces this morning and I'm so proud of all my students and I'm,

02:21I know it is a difficult time, they've been waiting for these grades. Um and it's just wonderful to see them

02:27coming in, to see them collecting the fruits of their very hard work. I wish them all the best and I wish

02:34the best to all the students across the black country and across the country on this day. Um and I hope that

02:40they're going to have very happy futures.
