Just outside the old city of Ayutthaya, there's a quiet riverside spot called the Japanese village.

Over 400 years ago, during the time of Ayutthaya kingdom, Japanese people came here to live.

Some betrayers, others were soldiers or travelers.

They came looking for new chances and they became part of the local community.

One man, Okiyasi Napimoku, who is one of the most notable foreign novels in Thailand, even became a top military leader in the king's court.

He helped build a strong connection between Thailand and Japan.

Today, the village is a peaceful place where you can learn about this history.

There's small museum, a Japanese garden, and this place showing how people lived back then.
