00:00Hi, you're watching Fur Sports. I'm Rupa Ramani. Let's get started.
00:17On the show today, West Indies achieve a historic win at the expense of a lacklustre,
00:31dismal performance by Pakistan men's cricket team. What is ailing this country and are the
00:36players too now finally facing the heat from the unrest that is clearly prevailing in the
00:42system and PCB. The La Liga game between Barcelona and Villarreal is set to take place in Miami
00:50in the USA, a move that many have wanted to make for years now, but there is already severe
00:55backlash and reactions coming in. What are the reasons and will FIFA finally give the
01:00nod for this, keeping the build-up for the FIFA World Cup that's set to take place next
01:05year in mind? And Armand Duplantis has broken yet another record. While that is great for
01:11the athletics world, the governing body and his main sponsor, Puma, seem to be bleeding,
01:16something they also are now regretting. But more of that up ahead. First up, Sports 360.
01:23We'll start with cricket. South Africa beat Australia by 53 runs in the second T20 International.
01:28Put into bat first, Deval Brewer's unbeaten 125, powered the Proteus to 218. Australia was dismissed
01:36for 165 in response. With this loss, Australia's nine-match winning streak in the T20 Internationals
01:42have come to an end. The series is now tied, won all. The final game will take place on the 16th of
01:48this month in Cairns.
01:51India captain Shipman Gill has scripted history by becoming the first men's player to win four ICC
01:56Player of the Month awards. Pakistani batter Baba Razum is second on the list with three awards.
02:01Gill was rewarded for his exceptional test series against England in July. He scored 754 runs in
02:09the five tests. News from athletics. U.S. Olympic medalist Fred Curley has been provisionally suspended
02:17for doping whereabout failures. Curley has been accused of violating anti-doping rules when he
02:22pulled out of U.S. track and field trials late last month. Curley, who won silver and bronze in the
02:28100-meter races, plans to contest the decision. To tennis. A night of adverse weather conditions
02:37affected matches of the Cincinnati Open. Alexander Zverev was left stranded after his match against
02:42Brandon Nakashima was suspended. The German was leading 6-4, 5-4 when play was called off. Zverev will
02:50resume his fixture today. Meanwhile, in the women's event, the match between Magda Lynette and Jessica Pegula
02:57was suspended as well. Both the players won one set each before rain affected play.
03:08And the Indian Olympic Association has approved the country's 2030 Commonwealth Games bid. The proposed host city is
03:15yet to be confirmed. India last hosted the Commonwealth Games back in 2010 in Delhi. The decision to host the
03:23Commonwealth Games is in line with India's ambition to host the Olympics in 2036. World Athletics Vice President
03:29Adil Sumariwala said India is keen on organizing 2029 and the 2031 World Athletics Championships as well.
03:37Pakistan has created another record. This is an infamous one after losing to West Indies in the
03:48recently concluded ODI series. With that series win, the West Indies achieved something they hadn't in 34
03:55years, beat Pakistan in an ODI series, resulting in yet another dismal chapter in Pakistan cricket, one that we
04:03are getting more and more familiar with now. As Pakistan failed to get out of crisis mode and are their
04:10players too silently revolting? Pakistan has been in the dumps for some years now. I'm of course talking
04:17about the cricket team in particular here before you misunderstand me. It felt like a switch had somehow
04:23been flipped and one poor performance followed another. The PCB too, on their part, instead of addressing the
04:30unrest in the team, but partly due to the many constant changes in the setup and the squad,
04:36have assumed that turning a blind eye would be far easier to do. How else do you expect a country that
04:42is known for its talent pool, especially in cricket, constantly and consistently failing? In the last
04:49match of the series, the one that should have at least seen some fight, Pakistan crumbled. They only
04:55managed to score 92 runs while trying to chase down 295. That total was below par even for a T20
05:04international. And Mohamed Rizwan, who has been shoved into captaincy rather unceremoniously,
05:09has only managed to give assurances and brave claims all through the series. That now sound more flimsy.
05:17And now I'll see you tomorrow.
05:19Coming back to her.
05:19We'll be back to it soon.
05:20See you tomorrow.
05:20You have to come back to it soon.
05:21We'll be back to it.
05:22I'll be back to it soon.
05:23boil it again.
05:25We'll be back to it soon.

10:27ats,
10:49just a PR stunt, it's a season-defining fixture that's being handed to Barcelona on a plateau,
10:55an away game being organised on a neutral turf to Messi's current city. It all calls for a
11:02Barcelona dominance. And then there is Villarreal, willing to pay for fans' flights and give
11:07discounts to season ticket holders.
11:19Now, why is that so? Because the payday from Miami will be huge. This smells familiar,
11:33remember when former Spanish FA President Luis Rubiales took the Supercopa de España to Saudi
11:39Arabia in 2020. For four years now, Spain's top clubs have been playing there for reportedly
11:45$43 million a year. It filled the Federation's pockets and allegedly Rubiales' as well. But
11:53it left Spanish fans robbed of watching their own teams lift trophies at home. And that's
11:58the real danger here as well.
12:00We're going to fight against this. For us, again, this is a threat to the very existence,
12:05to the very integrity of the game. And this is not just one or two games that are going
12:08to be played outside of their territory of origin.
12:12I think it's terrible, because many people cannot pay for a trip this size to Miami.
12:17It would be better to hold the match closer to Barcelona.
12:20If that's in Miami, then it will be Miami. But it is clear everyone prefers to see it
12:25in Camp Nou.
12:27If Villarreal versus Barcelona goes to Miami, it sets a precedent. Soon, more league matches
12:34could be moved abroad. The losers rival clubs whose seasons swing on these very fixtures.
12:40And most of all, loyal home fans who are being prized out of their own game. If La Liga truly
12:46wanted to grow its brand, they could organise pre-season tours, friendlies, promotional events,
12:51the works, all of it abroad. What's better than a Real Madrid vs Barcelona game? Any country in the
12:57world would clamour to market that. But this isn't about growing football. Maybe this is about
13:03growing their pockets? Yes. And in chasing gold overseas, La Liga risks losing its diamonds at home.
13:09They're fans who built the league's legacy in the first place.
13:17Pole wall sensation Armand Mondo du Plantis is on a world record rampage. Every time he steps into a
13:23competition, he doesn't just win it, he raises the bar literally. At the Istvan Gulai Memorial in Hungary,
13:30Mondo shattered his own world record yet again for the 13th time. It's an extraordinary sporting
13:35achievement, but there's a smart strategy behind it too. Because every time Du Plantis breaks a record,
13:41he pockets thousands of dollars from both World Athletics as well as his sponsor Puma. So while
13:46his bank balance keeps soaring, it's also quietly draining his sponsor and the governing body. And
13:52they've now started voicing their frustration publicly on social media. Our next report tells you more.
14:05Armand Mondo Du Plantis might just be the most dominant athlete on the planet right now.
14:29Every time the pole walled king takes the field, two things are guaranteed. A win and
14:35a new world record. In Hungary, he soared 6.29 meters, rewriting history for the 13th time.
14:44It's a streak that began in 2020 and hasn't showed any signs of slowing down.
14:50Great news for his fans, but a headache for statisticians who just can't keep up.
14:55And now, that dominance is turning into a financial headache for World Athletics and Puma.
15:08Under current rules, whenever a world record is broken, World Athletics pays $100,000.
15:14On top of that, Du Plantis has a private bonus deal with Puma.
15:18Now do the math. 13 records means $1.3 million from World Athletics alone.
15:27We don't know Puma's exact payout per record, but their cheeky comment made it clear,
15:32the bonus is not small.
15:33And judging by Mondo's approach, Puma might want to keep that checkbook handy,
15:48because Du Plantis is more than just a phenomenal athlete.
15:53He's a shrewd businessman.
15:57Here's how it works.
15:58In pole vault, the athlete chooses the height they start at.
16:02They get three attempts to clear it.
16:04Mondo's trick?
16:05He only raises the bar by 0.01 meters above his own record.
16:13It's not that he can't jump higher.
16:15He just chooses not to.
16:17Why?
16:18Because every incremental increase means another new world record.
16:23And another big payday.
16:26He's pulled this off 13 times and it's clear he's not stopping anytime soon.
16:31It's the perfect one-step-at-a-time business plan.
16:35Jump a little higher, break your own record, collect 100,000-plus dollars and repeat.
16:43At over $100,000 per centimeter, Du Plantis might be sport's most profitable climber.
16:50But money aside, he's also the ideal sporting role model.
16:54Humble, respects his opponents, a big admirer of fellow champions like Neeraj Chopra,
17:01and always acknowledging his partner's support.
17:04Now he's added another title, entrepreneur.
17:06Who knows, maybe after retirement, Mondo could give masterclasses on financial acumen.
17:15Then again, with the way he's cashing in record after record, he may never need an alternate career.
17:22Because right now, every time Mondo Du Plantis clears the bar,
17:26he's not just soaring into history, he's turning every centimeter into cash registers.
17:35Time for last serve.
17:36Dubai has once again come up with a unique event.
17:39After jet suit race and a dog-a-thon, the city hosted mall-a-thon.
17:44With the temperatures soaring high outside, players were seen racing inside a mall.
17:49If you are a shopaholic, or enjoy your occasional window shopping, you'll be in trouble.
17:53Take a look.
18:18That wraps it up here on First Sports.
18:26I'll, of course, see you again tomorrow.
18:28Till then, take care.
18:28Bye-bye.
18:48Bye-bye.
19:00Bye-bye.
19:05Bye-bye.
19:11Bye-bye.
19:15Bye-bye.
