Sphere Entertainment said more than 120,000 tickets have been sold for “The Wizard of Oz” screenings at the Las Vegas Sphere starting later this month, according to CNBC. Sales are expected to reach 200,000 by opening night. CEO James Dolan said the screenings are groundbreaking and expected to attract strong interest from Las Vegas visitors. Dolan said the screenings could raise the share of Las Vegas visitors attending the Sphere to over 10% from about 7%. Sphere Entertainment used AI-powered “outpainting” to expand the film’s original frames for the Las Vegas venue, which opened in September 2023.
