00:00Hey guys and welcome to this Polymer Clay Tutorial. Together we will create
00:18Scrat and his beloved acorn flying right in space.
00:35Okay, let's start creating Scrat. First of all you need some ochre and second you need some
00:44aluminum wire as the head is getting very thin when it comes to the nose so I wanted
00:51to get a stable structure. After that well you can add some more clay for the cheeks
00:59because Scrat always has a lot of food in his cheeks and after that you can start creating
01:07the dents for the eyes and the eyes well you can really literally make two white balls
01:17as the Scrat's eyes pop out a lot and I use a very thin line of ochre clay
01:27to surround them to get that nice frame for the eyes.
01:31Yeah, on my Instagram account I was asked if I had bought the eyes.
01:38No, I made them by my own and here you can see how I did it.
01:43For the eyelids just make some two curved forms and attach them to the back part of the eyes.
01:50Have you already seen Ice Age Collision Chords?
01:56Well, I haven't but I'm looking forward to this as the previous ones of this serial were so great.
02:05The plot is explained very quickly as it also can be seen in the trailers.
02:10Scrat tries to bury his beloved acorn and while doing so in the deep eyes of
02:19Antarctic or wherever he accidentally activates an alien ship and well this brings him to deep space
02:30where he sends, unwillingly sends some asteroids right on collision course with Earth.
02:38Yeah, and meanwhile Manny is worried about his upcoming marriage
02:45and well I think also Sid is planning to get married but he's dumped by his girlfriend
02:54so there's a lot of relationship stuff going on on Earth
03:00well while our protagonist Scrat is sending some asteroids right to the Earth.
03:06If you have seen the movie
03:10please leave me some notes in the comments if it is worth going to the cinema.
03:19Meanwhile we have created the eyes.
03:22Well, you see I bought them.
03:26Now create the mouth.
03:27I remove some clay to get in a nice mixture of red and brown and some ocher.
03:36And well this looks really nice.
03:40Now of course we need the lower part of the mouth
03:45and just attach it and we are almost finished with the head.
03:50Of course the ears are missing.
03:53I make two different layers of clay.
03:56I put them right together and get these nicely shaped little ears
04:03to put them right in position on the back head.
04:08Yeah, oh right!
04:09And of course the teeth are missing.
04:13But before creating these
04:16I make some more cheek details
04:20just with a piece of white clay.
04:25It's some color gradient
04:28and after doing some scratch work with a scalpel
04:32the fur will look so nice, so amazing.
04:37For the nose I take a mixture of black and brown
04:42just place it in position
04:43make two dents in it,
04:46two tiny holes.
04:47Well and then you can start creating the fur,
04:50the fur effect with the scalpel.
04:53This is also one of the reasons
04:56why the scalpel made it on my list
04:59the top 10 modeling tools of all time.
05:03Now we can create the two.
05:05You can also just take some white clay
05:08but I decided to make a color gradient
05:11from white to ocher orange
05:15and put some wire into them
05:17as they are very thin
05:19and they would easily break
05:22so that they are more stable.
05:24Just place them right in position
05:27and the head is done!
05:29This is a plastic ball I found
05:31and as they are transparent
05:34it will work so great on the astronaut's helmet.
05:40But before creating this
05:42we have to use a lot of aluminum wire
05:45to get the skeleton of Scrat
05:49and also of his companion the acorn.
05:54You're probably asking why I'm using so much aluminum wire
05:58to define each arm and leg.
06:01Well this is the reason.
06:02I want to wrap around a lot of aluminum foil
06:06so that the whole structure gets as light as possible
06:11so that I just have to wrap around a very thin layer of clay
06:16and this will bring us to a very light figure
06:21and I have a special plan for this creation.
06:27As Scrat and his acorn
06:30is flying right in space
06:33it really should look like
06:35if they are flying and so I decided
06:39that the only piece where they are connected to the ground
06:45is the hose pipe.
06:48So it really should look like
06:50if they are floating right in deep space.
06:55But right now we have a lot of work ahead.
06:57We have to make all the details on the astronaut's suit.
07:03Be sure to check the size.
07:08I think the helmet should be the same size as the body.
07:14Yeah, so just adding some more details.
07:18What you need for the whole, I forgot to tell that,
07:22you need a brighter gray for the whole suit
07:26and then I mixed just a little darker gray
07:31and well it's black
07:34and I think you can cover all the details
07:38with just these three colors.
07:42Well and we need a tiny piece of red clay
07:45but we will see that in a minute.
07:49Don't worry about the too short connection
07:51between the both suits.
07:54I'm planning to make them both holding hands.
07:59Okay, just some more details for the two suits.
08:05All the details should be on each of the suits the same.
08:12So be sure that you make them both the same.
08:15Well back to the plot.
08:18Our group finds, well they find an ancient stone pillar
08:22and they find out that
08:26centuries ago there were several asteroids hitting the earth
08:31and this caused some extinction
08:35and how they can avoid that.
08:43And so the big plan of our group is to stop the asteroid
08:48from extincting the whole earth.
08:55If that makes sense to you.
08:58Yeah, this is what I talked about earlier.
09:00I wanted the both to hold the hands
09:07and so I attached that as an extra part.
09:11Just doing some detail work on the shoes
09:14make some tiny balls
09:17and yeah attach them to the shoes
09:22to the moon boots, how these are called.
09:25I asked a lot on how long
09:32one of these creations take me to create.
09:36Well for this particularly example
09:41this crat and his acorn
09:44I think I was modeling for
09:48nearly three and a half hours.
09:51Well it always looks that easy when it's speed up
09:55while I create a tutorial.
09:59But it isn't.
10:00It really takes a lot of time.
10:02So don't be frustrated when it takes you more time
10:07and it looks so easy on the tutorial.
10:10Well it's just fake as you should know.
10:18You also wanted to know which materials I'm using
10:21so I think I will make a video on that topic as well.
10:26Same as I made the tutorial
10:28the top 10 modeling tools of all time.
10:31I think you guys really like that,
10:33especially tool number one.
10:36If you haven't seen it, please check it out
10:39and let me know what you think about it.
10:41Yeah, that was the tiny spot of red clay.
10:43I don't know if you have noticed that.
10:48Just adding some patterns to the tail.
10:53Yeah, there you see the red part, the red light.
10:56And there is some kind of a backpack engine.
11:01So we will create that as well.
11:04I totally forgot to make this as well for acorn.
11:09Also I just left it out.
11:12Now we will create the hose pipe
11:16and in the trailer it's just wrapped around
11:20and it really should look like as if Scrat accidentally
11:25wrapped himself into this hose pipe.
11:28Yeah, with the wooden stick inside
11:31and this is the special part of this tutorial.
11:34It gives me a great opportunity to fix
11:38and to hold the whole figure
11:41and that it looks like as if Scrat is floating in space.
11:46And now let's create the most important part
11:49at least for Scrat it's the acorn.
11:52Just need two different kinds of brown
11:56and make some detail work on it.
12:00It is really easy.
12:02Well this looks easy and it's so fast created.
12:08And well now we have to prepare the plastic balls.
12:15We won't put them right into the oven.
12:18So if you have these plastic balls,
12:21please don't put them with the clay into the oven.
12:25You don't need them to put them into the oven.
12:29Add some purple.
12:30I think there's just a purple glow in the tutorial on the heads.
12:41So I decided to make just a thin layer.
12:47Now I'm placing everything right in position
12:50and we are ready to go.
12:59Oh yeah, I forgot to create the left hand of the acorn.
13:04Of course, how stupid is that?
13:06But now we are ready to go into the oven.
13:14Here we go!
13:17Well, what's left?
13:18Now we have to glue everything right together.
13:23Add some transparent polish.
13:26I'm removing these extra parts from the plastic balls
13:30and just use a strong glue to fix everything.
13:39And yeah, but be sure to paint with transparent polish
13:45before a gluing scratch head right into the plastic ball.
13:53Just some tiny tip.
13:55Don't work that much with the plastic ball
13:58to the clay as there is some kind of a chemical reaction.
14:04The plastic ball started to dissolve.
14:08It got really gluey and it was really strange.
14:14So be sure not to work that much with the plastic ball and the clay.
14:21Just adding some more transparent polish
14:24for the finish and I guess that's it.
14:28We're done!
14:30Flying to space!
14:35Thanks for watching this tutorial and please let me know
14:38if you have any questions about the figure,
14:40about creating, about whatever.
14:43Just write it in the comments.
14:44or we'll see exactly the last one at all.
14:49Just be sure and get ready for listening!
14:59Totally much on the other one.
15:00Where playing, you know?
15:01I love playing time, you know?
15:03In this video, probably thrown around here.
15:04Tell me what?
