00:00Did you know that time on the moon is different from time on Earth?
00:07According to scientists, time on Earth's only natural satellite moves faster by some 57 millionths of a second.
00:13That means that since astronauts last left its surface 52 years ago, the moon's clocks are ahead by around 1.1 seconds.
00:20It likely seems meaningless to the layman.
00:22However, NASA says that recent mathematical calculation will be quite important for future missions.
00:27According to the space agency, having the correct time in either place is extremely important for syncing navigational systems.
00:34And since we're about to have another human mission to the moon in just a few years, we're going to want that navigation to be spot on to the microsecond.
00:41In fact, these calculations were only recently doable, as experts needed to develop hyper-accurate atomic clocks that can even detect that amount of time change.
00:49So why is time different on the lunar surface?
00:51Well, it all comes down to Einstein's general theory of relativity.
00:55That outlines that an object's relative position to the center of the largest gravitational pole nearby, i.e. the sun, will change its passage of time.
01:02And since the moon has around a 238,000-mile swing around our planet, well, we can just let NASA do the math on that one.
01:10I'll just watch this again and follow up on the plane.
01:11Then these considerations, feel free for that.
01:12I'll see you at this occasion.
01:13See you later.
01:14Maybe you'll Francis, and explain it if you can probably have a six-year Effect 1usset .
01:15If Zoom in the near future, please rise.
01:17If there are no different YUANMEL200s who are in the near future, please put the board for progress.
01:19Yes, I'll just leave you right after that.
01:20If you get there, it's a guess.
01:21It's really good, guys, right?
01:22I'm not fast.
01:23I said, if it's good, guys.
01:24If you were like.
01:25I said Emily, I wiped out the escalation plate.
01:26I forget some of the number of theâr amaưches
01:27go for you to add 2 minutes
01:28i go away, because I can't afford Frank.
