01:04A short drive away, Alaï Bazaar offers a different side of city life.
01:09Alaï feels different, quieter, more grounded.
01:13People aren't here to browse, they're here to buy.
01:16Bazaar is just like connected to our local culture.
01:20For example, wherever you just see the Uzbeks, there is one bazaar.
01:26Also in Tuscant, Mirabad Bazaar focuses on food.
01:30Real, local, everyday essentials.
01:33This market is famous for the different kind of breads that are sold.
01:38Each raf is hand-shaped, often stamped with traditional patterns,
01:42and built right here in Klerovans.
01:44Some are simple and soft, others crispy with layers of fat and onion,
01:49perfect for breakfast or bread with tea.
01:52This bazaar began operating informally back in the 19th century.
01:56In the 19th century, there was a hospital for wounded soldiers.
01:59Just spontaneously, a bazaar cube in this area,
02:04where people sell fruit, vegetables, and some sweets for people who were in the hospital,
02:09for the visitors and for the wounded soldiers.
02:12From Tuscant, we travel southwest to Samarkand,
02:15one of the most historic cities in the region,
02:18once a vital stop on the Silk Road.
02:20Siyom Bazaar sits just a few minutes from some of Uzbekistan's most famous landmarks.
02:26But this market is still very much for locals.
02:30Here, tradition is something you can hold, smell, and taste.
02:34And then, to the countryside, it's the Urgut market.
02:51Here, centuries-old traditions come to life,
02:54especially through the world-renowned Suzani carpets.
02:58Hand-embroidered by local artisans,
03:00each Suzani tells a story, stitched with symbols of fertility, protection, and heritage.
03:06Passed down through generations,
03:08these textiles aren't just decor,
03:10but they are actually living pieces of Uzbek culture.
03:14We now head west to Bukhara,
03:16one of Uzbekistan's most atmospheric cities.
03:19This is Toki Zargaron, or Dome of Jewelers.
03:22In the past, it was where Bukhara's wealth was kept and exchanged
03:27in the form of gold, gems, and silver.
03:31This place was once the center of trade in Bukhara,
03:34and in many ways, it still is.
03:36And just a few steps away is Toki Tel Pakforusson,
03:53or Dome of the Heart Cellars.
03:54If you pay attention above,
03:58it has some extraordinary geometric architectural system.
04:02This bazaar, we have natural air conditioning system
04:07because of mastery of the Shaibani dynasty masters.
04:12And here is cool in summer and warm in winter.
04:18Here, traditional Uzbek headwear is still proudly made and sold.
04:38From the city centers to the countryside,
04:41Uzbekistan's bazaars reflect what matters most.
04:44Connection, tradition, and community.
04:46They are not just places to buy things.
