Ditch 'forthwith', replace it with specific number of days--Puno

Deputy Speaker Antipolo City 1st district Rep. Ronaldo "Ronnie" Puno wants to replace the word "forthwith" in the constitutional process of impeachment with a specific number of days in order to avoid a repeat of the deadlock seen in impeachment case of Vice President Sara Duterte.  Puno had this to say in a press conference Tuesday, Aug. 12 as he expounded on the National Unity Party's (NUP) proposal for a constitutional convention (Concon) to ammend "ambiguous" parts of the Charter. 00:00You know, in the process of Judicatura, there are often specific periods that say that if you file a case, you have to answer within seven days, ten days of filing.

00:15Normally, I have to do it for a few days.

00:18The fourth week is not a day.

00:20So, dapat siguro sa mga provisions ng ating saligang batas relative to impeachment, sa mga darating na panahon, ilagay na natin yung mga period.

00:33Parang katulad ng kahit anumang proseso sa husgado, diba?

00:38Lagyan natin ng araw, pagka nag-file yung Congress dito, kailangan within seven days, umpisa na yung hearings.
