00:00Is there any questions?
00:02You do not want you to be elected to settle with the Trump administration.
00:06Are you taking any actions to fight this?
00:08Yeah, well, Sue, I mean, this is a separate topic, but it's not necessarily disconnected from this topic.
00:15Donald Trump today is trying to silence academic freedom.
00:19He's attacking one of the most important public institutions in the United States of America,
00:25one of the finest institutions of higher learning in the world,
00:28one of the great research institutions in this country,
00:30one of the reasons California is the tentpole of the U.S. economy,
00:34one of the reasons we have more scientists, engineers, more Nobel laureates than any other state in this nation.
00:39He has threatened us through extortion with a billion-dollar fine unless we do his bidding.
00:46So as long as I'm governor, I will stand tall and push back against that,
00:50and I believe every member of California legislature feels the same way.
00:56We will not be complicit in this kind of attack on academic freedom on this extraordinary public institution.
01:06We are not like some of those other institutions that have followed a different path.
