00:00More than half of Americans say rising grocery prices are stressing them out.
00:04That's according to a new poll from the AP Nork Center.
00:0853% call food costs a major source of stress, while another 33% say it's a minor worry.
00:15Only 14% say groceries aren't stressing them out at all.
00:19And nearly one in five people struggling with food costs have had to turn to buy now, pay later,
00:24or other deferred payment plans to cover groceries.
00:27Grocery inflation has eased since peaking at 9.4% in 2022, rising just 2.4% over the past year through June.
00:35The latest CPI report due this week will give a fresh look at how inflation is impacting Americans now.
00:41But even with the rate of increases slowing, prices are still climbing.
00:46Staples like eggs, beef, and orange juice have actually gotten more expensive due to supply issues and extreme weather.
00:52Plus, tariffs are pushing up costs on items like imported fruits, canned goods, coffee, and more.
00:59And it's not just groceries causing Americans to fret.
01:02Housing and health care costs are still major stress points for a lot of people, according to the poll.
