00:05U.S. In a post on Truth Social, he says that this is a way of substantially reducing Beijing's
00:10trade deficit with Washington. A tariff truce between the two countries is due to expire on
00:18August 12, though the Trump administration has signaled the deadline could be extended.
00:23China buys more than 60% of soybeans shipped worldwide, sourced mainly from Brazil and the
00:28U.S. Last year, it imported roughly 105 million metric tons, just under a quarter from the U.S.
00:35and most of the remainder from Brazil. Quadrupling U.S. shipments would require China to source most
00:41of its soybeans from American suppliers. In recent years, China has reduced reliance on U.S. soybeans,
00:47favoring South American suppliers instead. Amid ongoing trade tensions, China has yet to buy any
