00:09Wedding Industry Report, the rising cost of living is having a huge effect on the way couples wish
00:14to celebrate their special day. In particular, it's affecting when couples choose to say I do,
00:20with up to 30% of the surveyed saying they would delay their nuptials in order to save money.
00:25Meanwhile, 10% of those surveyed said they would have a shorter engagement period to avoid having
00:31to foot any future price rises. For wedding guests, the rising cost of living is also having an effect
00:37on how much they're willing to spend to celebrate their friends and family's wedding day. Wishing
00:43Wells and Future Funds have risen in popularity as couples opt for cash instead of a traditional
00:48registry of gifts. Guests, for their part, have become more generous, spending on average $50
00:54more than in previous years for close friends and family, and on average about $13 more on couples
01:01outside their immediate family. Gone are the days where a wedding guest might be able to get away
01:06with sending a happy couple a $50 set of cheese knives. Now it's customary for family and friends
01:12to fork out around $288 per wedding. After all, weddings are a pricey event, so why not share the
