​​Germany suspends arms deliveries to Israel that could be used in Gaza

Israel has strongly rejected international criticism over its plan to vastly expand military control of the Gaza Strip.   The decision has sparked condemnation from close allies, including the UK, France, and most notably Germany, which has announced it will halt military exports destined for use in Gaza.   That's being seen as a bold step by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who has long been regarded as a strong supporter of Israel.   Israel's Defense Minister said countries that condemned and threatened sanctions would not weaken Israeli resolve. 00:12such as France, such as the Netherlands, Belgium, and also the UK,

00:26Following the decision taken in the Cabinet on Thursday,

00:29Germany, as you said, announced that it's basically imposing a boycott of ammunition to Israel.

00:36Germany is a very big exporter of ammunition to Israel,

00:39and this will have an effect on the IDF, on the amount of ammunition the IDF has

00:44for this continued war in Gaza, and not only Gaza.

00:47Let's remember, Israel is conducting minor wars in other fronts as well.

00:52Therefore, this has a very strong impact.

00:54Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a phone conversation with the German Chancellor

00:58last night.

00:59Netanyahu said that Germany, in its decision, is basically rewarding Hamas instead of standing by Israel

01:07in its very justified war.

01:09It did not deter the German Chancellor, who is pushing forward with his decision.

01:14Despite even some criticism within Germany, that's still something that the Chancellor is pushing on.

01:20And I think that Israel is well aware that even the United States, even within the administration,

01:26people are losing patience.

01:27It doesn't seem as if Israel knows exactly what it wants to do.

01:30On the one hand, Israel takes a decision in the Cabinet saying a total conquest of Gaza.

01:36On the other hand, this will require major, major reserve call-up, which for the moment is not happening yet.

01:45So is Israel going for the conquest, or not going for the conquest?

01:48It seems as if Israel is not really given a clear way as to where it is going.

01:54What is clear is that many countries around the world, including the biggest allies that Israel has,

01:59seem to be losing patience.
