09:06hottest activewear companies Kalia to give you guys some more insight into Kalia we have a special
09:16guest vice president and head designer for Kalia Alisha Scott so good to meet all of you we created
09:30Kalia about 10 years ago and really wanted to form a brand that is the perfect juxtaposition of fashion
09:37and femininity and function and I love how you guys have all styled all your pieces you got today our entire
09:43collection is rooted in performance if you're designing a look for Pilates or run it needs to
09:49be able to function we believe there's beauty in the burn how's it gonna work whenever she is doing a
09:54downward dog make sure that when you're designing a piece it can be used for working out going to grab
10:00coffee going out to grab cocktails with your friends it needs to be versatile so not only has
10:06Kalia provided look books they've also provided all the fabrications for the challenge that's not all
10:13Kalia is going to produce and sell the winning look from the winning collection that would be so cool to
10:24have a Joseph McCray and Kalia produce that I feel like it would eat down I love the idea of this like beauty
10:29in the burn so what if we have like fire on the runway like actual fire so you'll have all of today and part of
10:40tomorrow to create your fire worthy collections don't you love a one day challenge yes one day to do this as if
10:49there weren't enough stress already the burn of it all bye Ethan you want to see what it's like when
11:01you put Antonio and I together it's gonna be game on and it's gonna push me to even do better to beat

12:18to call our team the house of Lotus because we wanted to feel the zen within the burn and so coming
12:24off the last challenge being in the bottom our stickler was our cohesion so as we're going through
12:31these fabrics that Kalia provided us we're really paying attention to what color palette we want to do
12:37so that we really nail that cohesion this time because if we miss it two times in a row are we
12:42gonna be done for I love this fabric that was trying to get the colors out of this this has all your colors
12:48once again Antonio is choosing the fabric and I'm getting a little anxious because the last time he chose
12:58fabric we were in the bottom can y'all roll the tape back so the fabric that I brought from home
13:04is in pink so let's have the inspiration of our collection be butterflies that's the best one out
13:09of all of them I think we should go with that I don't like that no you like this better I mean I
13:15like this I don't like that either but I mean I wanted to start with Miss Joan I want to know
13:20it is what it is oh is the drama already beginning you know working with the twins you know they're a
13:26whole vibe but our looks have to be cohesive I love Miss Joan but she's a little a little old
13:34school and stuck in the back in the days this fabric's so cool it's just more young I'll make it work
13:39don't use the fabric scissors you nincompoop I love Alex I didn't expect this competition to become
13:50so connective so quickly and me and Alex bonded so quickly it's so soft it's so cozy like she's
13:57gonna be in it I want it I'm making a lounge sweatsuit with a corset bustier top it all sprouted
14:06from trying to use the aspects of a kimono I grew up in Greensboro North Carolina but my Nana
14:15was a tailor from Nagasaki Japan so I find a lot of inspiration in what the Japanese call intangible
14:23cultural treasures but my mama would say that I don't bring enough of the South with me how are you
14:32feeling this week feeling great it looks really cool thank you so much I appreciate that you are
14:37absolutely looking at the next winner of project runway my design aesthetic is a combination of
14:44street wear and elegance I want to win project runway for my daughter Ava it's right here having
14:51her changed me as a person it gave me so much more dry and I do this all for her so I have to make this
14:58stand out and hopefully while the judges Madeline what informs your work I'm trying to always like
15:09see things that I like about vintage fashion but then giving it like my own little twist what about
15:17yourself I grew up in like a hoedunk farm town I just felt inherently so different from the rest of my
15:23family the only thing I could really do was you know rely on my own creativity and imagination to
15:29kind of distract me from maybe not feeling like it belong there did they accept you as you are like
15:35you know when I finally did come out they were like we don't get it yet but we just don't want to
15:43lose you so we're gonna try to figure this out I feel really blessed to be able to have my family in
15:50my life so it makes me want to really push myself to win this for them hello hey how's the team going
16:02I do think the silhouette of this skirt you still have to figure out oh lord this might send me home
16:11I am a technical designer and I am a serious workaholic my family is Jamaican and I've always
16:20been raised with all the elders around me doing multiple things even if it's not their job they're
16:25gonna figure out how to do it that day and do it so I have to push myself because this workout so
16:31weekend challenge is taking me out of my comfort zone I really wanted to do something that was
16:37extremely comfortable I think it feels a little too demure I think I made the right decision I was
16:44the one who fought to use this print because Mrs. Joan didn't like it she still doesn't like it okay so
16:49you did it again you wanted a print again everybody wants this print groundbreaking this circle skirt
16:59yeah mm-hmm I can cut a circle out right now and do this in 10 minutes really we're kind
17:06of not the exact same look from the last challenge but you're making a jacket and a jacket and a skirt a
17:14jacket and a skirt let me tell you a little something about Christian Seriano Christian to come in the workroom
17:21I'm like are you sure about that or he be walking around like oh okay that little face be killing me
17:30with them glasses and that hair perfectly swapped it to the side the top being fabulous is very important
17:36here we should develop this more because you already know you can make a cool jacket I'm gonna
17:40listen to Christian because I know I'm taking a risk but I do not want to be in the bottom again you
17:45got a lot to do I got you okay I'm kind of going for like that modern with a little bit of Tron this
17:53sash doesn't do anything she couldn't do any athletic things with this hanging hmm what are all these lines
18:03on this so I kind of want to achieve this kind of like texture all of these lines you're gonna weave the
18:11inspirations for this design is the Clea logo it's like a twisted string it's like very dynamic what
18:19are you doing it's going to be like a more like athletic fancy corset bustier kind of thing this
18:29makes no sense for an athletic look that scares me athleisure specifically is not something that I
18:36normally do unfortunately time is not on our side in this competition Christian has his doubts about
18:45this corset but we're sticking to our guns hmm what are you doing I am doing an oversized hoodie
18:53which I'm thinking about cropping I did the pin tuck in my hand mm-hmm it's gonna have the same pin
18:59tuck in all over the pants as well so you're also doing a sweat oversize sweat oversize sweat pant in
19:07the same fabric is the pant wide like that wide you haven't even looked at each other's stuff and
19:13she's like right she's right in front of you honestly I really don't know much about what my team is doing
19:19this is it yes looks very similar I haven't looked at the other designers on my team I've just been too
19:25focused so we just have a wide pant off on the runway in the same fabric what the like what am I
19:34gonna do next I need to think fast and pivot into some other different silhouette if I don't succeed
19:39I'm worried it might put me on the bottom so I'm looking at Team Lotus and it does not fit the brief that we
19:52got so we both have mesh their looks are looking a little all over the place I think that we're
19:59gonna take this one home I look at the other team it's like crickets in that side of the room no one's
20:05really talking to each other and here we are like you know blah blah blah and then at night she just
20:11looks like love and honey okay this do this like we're helping each other yeah yes Ethan I hate to
20:18tell you but you will be the losing team

20:31this very cool jacket with a pleated skirt
20:35off the top I think so so how does one do anything athletic in that top I think I'm gonna hit eating
20:47it up and it's just like yeah no are we playing tennis where you tie your arms up if I don't come
20:54through with this bra like I feel like the whole look is gonna go capoose so different when I design on
21:00paper and design you you trend pleated skirt it's really short I thought it was a mistake but it's not
21:08a mistake because mama I'm a slut you decided yeah yeah I'm gonna do some nice shorts and then the cargo
21:16pockets that shoe are you nuts what kind of shoe black whoa what tic-tac shoe
21:27you have no side seam there's no side seam interesting you can't do that look at her butt
21:38that's crazy these pants are styled after a Japanese hakama pant where there aren't really
21:45side seams and all of the volume is put into pleats across the back since we're paying homage
21:52to my Japanese ancestress it's really important for me to nail this look that I make and I'm feeling
21:59the pressure bye models thank you so much hello oh I have to take this sorry you're gonna be laughing
22:10when that little hem falls out I'm gonna tear it up I'm feeling really good about my look but what if
22:16your team doesn't but after the model fitting I'm feeling a little worried about my team Alex has these
22:22grand ideas but she is running out of time and Angelo's work is looking a little simple if Jesus kills it
22:30that I lost a valuable player I hope that I made the right decision

22:51glowy dewy kind of thing I love it but maybe something that's been like smudged a little bit

24:16from workout to weekend you worked in teams and you had only one day to create your collection

24:35and our guest judge and co-owner of the fashion line favorite daughter sarah foster
24:40i'm so excited to see miss sarah foster she has a really good head on her shoulders around how to
24:47make a woman feel beautiful and comfortable in the clothes she's gorgeous okay we're ready let's
24:51start the show it's gonna be flaming hot i wish i had a marshmallow this got flammable hair now wait
24:59a minute i told you it was gonna be hot and i was not talking about hans and franz
25:15i do feel like i have successfully captured the essence of this challenge with creating something
25:20that goes from workout to weekend with the pin tucking the silhouette the styling is really good
25:26i'm feeling really confident she's a professional you know you know look at us now i'm very proud of
25:35this look my look looks very modern sexy and fun and the red line on the jacket is everything that is
25:42a short skirt but she's got some good legs look at us now now here i come i'm just looking at the outfit
25:53it's not as bad as i expected it to be but i know what's going on on the inside
26:01it's messy messy i'm not happy about it it could have been worse it could have also been better
26:09i like that i would wear that you're very generous oh no
26:13with my athleisure look i'm feeling pretty satisfied i like it i think it's cute it's nothing
26:22like really shocking but i am just elated that the athleisure challenge is in the past she's got it
26:30she looks amazing i've worked hard to achieve that details that those string woven by hand i cut all
26:42those holes individually it takes a lot of work to create that textile i want to make sure that every
26:48piece that i make is a labor of love i don't get that curly hair with that
26:52with that side fin it's flowing down the runway it's got movement oh it looks so good
27:04i would wear that now i may have slayed a little bit too hard this week so
27:08i'm hoping that it can pull this team through to the wind
27:11this look it's very universal this girl can do pilates and then put some heels on put a jacket on
27:23and go have a cocktail with the girl just at night i'm proud of myself it would mean a lot to win this
27:28challenge and have that collab with leah coming from the crowd i'ma shut it down
27:32do it like this i'm happy with how this look turned out i feel like it's me and i'm starting
27:41to be more confident in what i'm designing and believe whatever i'm creating is good
27:50i see my look coming down the runway and i'm thinking okay yes even though i didn't choose this
27:56fabric i was able to be a team player and i think that she looks fabulous i love the drama
28:02this is the future you better own it i nailed it oh my god this is the moment

28:18my model is looking so everything and then she unzips this jacket and it's just like oh welcome
28:25to the party bring out the tata i took a risk with almost recreating my previous look
28:32and i hope this paid off
28:40that's my girl wow like i'm just literally getting chills the way she's walking the way that the
28:45pants are moving how powerful she looks i'm feeling great i could definitely see this in stores and see
28:52a lot of people wanting these pants wanting this bomber even the bag i love this our team everything
28:59was executed beautifully and i think that that showed on the runway i am not worried about myself
29:06but it's hard to tell you know it's two different vibes so i hope that the switch doesn't come back to

31:28it and that is joseph without a doubt when we saw her walk down the runway we knew it was you and i think
31:34she could actually work out in this because of her little shorts under oh surprise surprise yay
31:40and she could throw on a pump or a heel and go straight to the weekend which that was the challenge
31:46thank you so much i would wear that jacket to the gym but then i'd also wear it to dinner that night
31:51with a pair of jeans i don't i i'm into you i don't know how else i can say it i mean i was into
31:56all of it i like your look too i like her vibe it stands out it's memorable to me she's badass and

32:09lauren i really love the work that you did on this top i think it's really beautiful i love
32:16all the detail that you made with the pockets correct and i love the fact that you considered

32:30like that fabric as you can see absolutely the detail of the skirt is really cool and it's a flattering
32:37waistband waistband waistbands can go very unflattering girl very easily whatever it is i like

33:16i would wear those pants in a heartbeat the pan turns into a straight leg pant she could wear it like
33:22this i mean she could open up a little well done on that fabulous chic and effortless what i also love
33:31is the detail the fact that you thought about the zipper on the side can you turn around and that
33:37little pocket with that little black detail those details all matter yeah right yeah thank you nina
33:45i want to be this girl that would wear this thank you so much but now is the moment of truth

36:24here the silhouette i think is nice i like the length i like that it's not a midi and it's not a
36:28mini i think that's versatile a lot of people can wear that it's just really that's that's all i liked
36:32about it you guys like the ties hey i love dangling i think it kind of looks like a tampon i think
36:38oh i mean this is this is unwearable i also don't understand this girl i think the work that you've
36:45done i think it's quite beautiful but it doesn't scream active wear to me at all like i don't get
36:51it that's the problem that's the problem yeah you needed to make this a top a pair of black leggings
36:58and call it a day and you would have had a hit this didn't need to be a cocktail dress out of context
37:05all right angelo let's hear about your look um i designed men's streetwear so i just wanted to
37:11stay true to myself i think where you have to be careful angelo is that it felt to me a little safe
37:20and boring you really need to bring in a sense of drama step it up listen i'm a basic bitch so i love
37:29sweats i think this is cool i like this it's different you know i mean it's not for me but i
37:33appreciate that you added that detail yeah on sweats i think it's really well made it's just
37:39there was no showmanship to it yeah you know i think that's where you fell flat okay thank you
37:45all right alex tell us about your look so quite a few of my pieces are also inspired by kimonos
37:51i incorporate into the way that i create different pieces is that part of your heritage to kimono yes my
37:57grandmother was japanese okay so i go to the sauna a lot and i love a corset i don't care what the
38:03situation is at the sauna well obviously you're not going to wear a corset in the sauna but post
38:09sauna you can but you gave her a corset she doesn't look comfortable at all she can't work out in this
38:16guys the story has to match you cannot piss on me and tell me it's raining i'm sorry okay well the
38:22corset you're right but the pant and the sweater top i did like i liked the movement coming down the
38:27runway i don't know when it was coming down i was like oh it looks kind of like laura piano vibes
38:33come on guys turn around please no do you see the seam of the pant when she turns around there's
38:40the puckering yeah it is a struggle in the back there's a little bit of a problem with this bib that
38:46falls from the corset i think there's too many ideas put in the flap in the front the flap on the
38:52arms she's playing homage to her heritage and yes i love that but i don't see that in the look
38:57at all no all right there's a lot for us to talk about you can leave the runway thank you thank you
39:08let's talk about angelo it is a tough competition to be in if you're that much of a minimalist
39:13because this is a show and you're competing with people that are going to razzle dazzle you have to
39:19remember you are in a competition you have to remember that give us a show
39:26vj's look was actually really good i hated it the ties were insane i thought the dress was really
39:33well made it was just out of context yes i would buy that it was the wrong story the sneakers with it
39:39is for me the worst yeah she has to really watch out for her styling because i don't think she's
39:45got it together and it's as we all know a full polish look that has to come down yeah it may not be
39:52at leisure wear but i hope that the judges will appreciate the hard work that i put in that dress
