00:00Can I get your reaction to Israel saying that it's Israel planning to take over Gaza City?
00:09Yeah, thank you for the question.
00:13I would say first, we join others, many others, in viewing that this is wrong,
00:21that this action is not going to contribute to an improvement
00:26in the humanitarian situation on the ground.
00:30It is going to put the lives of the hostages at greater risk
00:34rather than lessening it.
00:39We reiterate our call for an immediate ceasefire.
00:42We reiterate our call for Hamas to immediately return all of the hostages
00:48and their remains.
00:50We reiterate that Hamas has no role going forward
00:55and will continue to work with our allies to contribute what we can
00:59to achieving those outcomes.
01:01Will the Canadian government consider sanctions against Israel?
01:07Thank you for the question.
01:09We are working on multiple fronts
01:13to try to bring a level of stability to the region,
01:20then security, then peace to the region.
01:24And in terms of those fronts, yes, working with allies, working with the French,
01:28working with the British, working with partners in the Middle East,
01:32other partners in the Middle East,
01:33to work towards stabilization of the situation.
01:38And we don't see the road.
01:42What we see is the erosion of the possibility of a two-state solution
01:47because of facts on the ground, actions on the ground.
01:51And that's why we made the announcement,
01:54announced the intention predicated on various factors that we did.
01:58But what we're also doing, and again, I want to bring it right back to where we are today,
02:02is doing what we can under extremely difficult circumstances
02:06to provide humanitarian aid to those suffering in Gaza
02:12with our Jordanian partners.
02:14But very importantly, directly with the Canadian Armed Forces earlier this week,
02:22just under 22,000 pounds of aid brought through Cyprus
02:27and airdropped into Gaza.
02:30And that's the forces at its best in one of the worst situations in the world.
