00:00Why hasn't Boeing upgraded the 787 to fly even further? Let me explain.
00:04The Boeing 787 Dreamliner already flies some of the longest routes in the world,
00:10with the 787-9 covering nearly 14,000 kilometers non-stop. But could it go further? Technically,
00:16yes. Boeing has made small improvements over the years, like weight reductions and performance
00:21tweaks that have slightly boosted range. However, the biggest limitation now is fuel capacity.
00:27The 787-10 carries more passengers but less fuel, sacrificing range for capacity. But,
00:33to push beyond the current limits, Boeing would likely need to develop a new variant,
00:37something like a 787-9ER, with larger fuel tanks or advanced materials to shave weight.
00:43But more fuel means more weight, and more weight means structural changes,
00:47which could reduce overall efficiency.
