00:26This tyranny in real time. We've all heard the term gerrymandering, which was founded here

00:41in Massachusetts. This, ladies and gentlemen, is Trump Mandarin, and all the Republicans

00:48are pandering to the Trump Mandarin. And if it can happen in Texas, the second largest

00:55state in the country, it will happen elsewhere. This is not a one off. It's a blueprint.

01:02If we do not stop it now, they'll copy and paste it across the country.

01:07They're manipulating maps because they cannot manipulate the will of the people.

01:14People have died for the right to vote for us, for us the right to vote. We have to keep

01:22our faith and keep our fight and keep democracy in place. That's the most important thing we

01:28have in this country is our democracy. And we shall not stand by and let one man and one

01:34governor turn us around.

01:40What I keep reminding my Republican colleagues across the aisle is that Donald Trump is a

01:46president. He is not a dictator. He is not a king. But he is an authoritarian. And I'm tired of him

01:54calling up Missouri and saying, jump in every Missouri and saying, all right, Daddy Trump, how high?

02:01Whatever you say.

02:04This is not a North Carolina or a problem or a Texas problem. It is an American problem. And

02:12it is a true constitutional crisis and one that we can stop. In resisting partisan gerrymandering,

02:19Texas legislators are not just standing up for their constituents, but the future of our

02:24republic itself. We are winning in unwinnable seats. We are speaking loudly and proudly as a majority

02:30female and majority BIPOC caucus.

02:38House will come to order. It is evident to the chair. The quorum is not present. Without

02:43objection, the house stands adjourned until 8 30 a.m.
