Joel Piroe eager to continue scoring for Leeds in Premier League

00:01Leeds United striker Joel Perrault has said that he will look to continue scoring goals for the club

00:06following his strike against Villarreal in pre-season at Elland Road.

00:12It was a good, tough game, good opponent and always happy to take my goal with me.

00:19Yeah, the goal came at a good time because they were a good side you were playing today

00:24and we saw that in spells of the game, didn't we?

00:26Yeah, definitely. I think they had really good patterns as well.

00:30Like where they sometimes caught us in behind, I think we reacted well to it apart from with the goal, of course.

00:36But to then get back into the game with the goal is always really good

00:42and it shows the resilience we have as a team as well.

00:45Are you happy to be scoring goals in pre-season?

00:48Yeah, of course. You want to keep going where you left.

00:51So, yes, I'm very happy with that.

00:53But at the same time, it's still pre-season.

00:56It does count, but it ain't the real work, yeah.

01:01Because everybody in the group, the group has been strengthened this summer.

01:04Everybody in the group is in the position of trying to make sure you're in the team for that first game, aren't you?

01:10Yes, definitely.

01:11And you never know what will happen with new signings as well.

01:14And Bradford City manager Graham Alexander has made clear that the Bantams' confidence will grow

01:20following their opening day win against Wickham Wanderers at Valley Parade.

01:25Yeah, definitely. I think, look, they're a team with big ambitions.

01:29You know, they recruited well.

01:31They finished really good, really well last season, as you said, in the playoffs and everything.

01:36So, we knew day one it was going to be a real test for us.

01:41But next week will be a real test.

01:42We can't, you know, we just spoke there after the game.

01:45We can't think anything gets easier from this point.

01:48It gets tougher and tougher, but we have to get tougher and tougher as we go along.

01:52But that first game, certainly for players, maybe.

01:55Bobby's not played at this level, so he scored the winner in his first game at this level.

01:59So, that will be a great boost for him.

02:00And I just think the players, the work they've put in over pre-season, you need validation

02:05and good results give you that.

02:07So, I think we'll see a much more confident team going into next week's game.
