00:00After a long count, Tasmanian MPs are officially elected.
00:07New members of the crossbench will be instrumental to the 52nd Parliament.
00:14With one new face vowing to ruffle some feathers.
00:17I'm sorry but sooner or later I'm probably going to pee somebody off.
00:22With the election writs officially delivered to the Governor,
00:25Premier Jeremy Rockcliffe is planning his visit to ask to be recommissioned for another term.
00:31Over the course of the next 48 hours I expect to be visiting the Governor.
00:37He's bidding to remain in power despite being four seats short of the majority
00:42and having no supply and confidence agreements in place.
00:45Jeremy Rockcliffe's comments over the last couple of days
00:48that he prepared to go into Parliament without 18 votes is disturbing
00:52and this is just the same pig-headed Premier that we've seen time after time.
00:56Labor says it's stepping up its negotiations with independents.
01:00But despite needing the support of the Greens to become Premier,
01:04Dean Winter is still leaving them out in the cold.
01:07We haven't had any further discussions with the Greens
01:09and we're not seeking to meet with them as part of the process I'm outlining today.
01:12Well clearly Dean Winter isn't able to count.
01:15He's accused Jeremy Rockcliffe of not being able to get to 18.
01:18If he wants to get to 18 he has to talk to the Greens, he has to negotiate with us.
01:23The Greens leader has said she wants to work with Labor
01:26but might walk away unless Mr Winter comes to the table.
01:30Well we can't just give the support that will be enduring and stable
01:34for a four year Parliament without having a conversation with Dean Winter about what that would look like.
01:40Jeremy Rockcliffe's visit here at Government House will likely provide some more answers
01:44about when Tasmania's political uncertainty will end.
01:48But even if he's recommissioned for another term by the Governor,
01:51he'll likely face a no confidence motion from a Labor Party
01:54desperate to end an 11 year stint in opposition as soon as Parliament resumes.
01:59.
02:23.
