00:20Authorities said late Sunday that the volcano's activity was decreasing,

00:28Both incidents may be linked to the major 8.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the region last week.
00:34The initial earthquake triggered tsunami waves in Japan and Alaska,
00:38prompting warnings for Hawaii, North and Central America,
00:42as well as Pacific Islands south toward New Zealand.
00:45Russian scientists have warned that strong aftershocks were possible in the region over the coming weeks.
