00:00I want to introduce you to some people that have joined us and are joining our campaign.
00:05Rupert Matthews is the Police and Crime Commissioner for Leicestershire.
00:11Formerly, he served in the European Parliament as a member there.
00:15He's twice been elected as a Conservative, but today he comes across to us as our first Police and Crime Commissioner.
00:25Rupert.
00:27And welcome on board.
00:30Well, morning everyone.
00:31Now, I've known Nigel off and on for several years, so I asked him what he wanted me to say to you all today.
00:40Great man that he is.
00:41He said, you can say anything you like, he said, as long as you tell them why you're joining reform.
00:46So here goes.
00:48I joined the Conservative Party in 1984.
00:51That's over 40 years ago.
00:53I joined a Conservative Party that was putting Britain first, that put the British people first,
00:59and that championed freedom.
01:01The economic decline of the 1970s was overturned.
01:05The Falklands were liberated.
01:08But now our great country faces new challenges and new dangers.
