00:00uh cameras all go to your back we're going to start with Rory if he's in the room yeah yeah

00:17thanks go ahead that's your room good um joe i'm not entirely sure where to start so i might go

00:25right to the end were you as a team pleased to be off there at the end was it was pretty tricky out

00:31there i think there's pros and cons to both really um you know the guys had bowled a lot

00:37there's overs in their legs you get back out there um and you know you get a couple of boundaries

00:42away and all of a sudden the game looks very different again um but then again you come

00:47back tomorrow you get another roller um you can rest up and it's a completely new opportunity so

00:54i think for both teams there's pros and cons it's just how it's sort of fallen um but there's not

01:00really much you can do as a player really you just sit and wait and do what you're told so

01:03um from our point of view come back tomorrow and we've got an amazing spectacle to look forward to

01:08is it is it fitting that this series is ending this way it was always going to happen like this

01:14wasn't it i mean look at the first four games this it's it's just been that kind of series it's been

01:20amazing to play in and um quite fitting almost that we're going to get that kind of finish tomorrow

01:26on a personal level another you know you you must have felt like you would almost almost done it and

01:33then you know you had that moment as well with the headband uh which was a sort of a nice moment

01:37yeah i mean uh it was barely disappointing not to still be there tonight and to get us get us home

01:45today but um you know we're in a really good position we've got a lot of batting left two guys

01:51out there that are very capable of seeing as home so um and in terms of thorpe you know i think this

01:59week it's been it's been amazing that the that sorry as a club at the ecb have recognized everything

02:05that he's done for english cricket as a as a player as a coach um as a mentor as a friend

02:12to the dressing room to the game of cricket um and you know that was on behalf of our team really

02:18to be honest everything that he's he's given to um and and sacrifice for english cricket is uh it's

02:26it's just really great to see the amount of love that there is for him um and you know and you know

02:32for his his family as well so um i think that was that was what that was for i don't know if i can um

02:37nick a spoiler out of you but is chris woke's got his batting stuff with him you probably saw him

02:43in his whites in the dressing room so um you know he's he's all in like it like the rest of us

02:48it's been that kind of series where you guys have had to put bodies on the line and um you know

02:53hopefully it doesn't get to that um but you know he had some throw downs in here i think at one point

02:59and he's ready if needed will and then vish just back to the forking your celebration um how long

03:07have you had your headband since tea so not long not long no and you obviously celebrated a few

03:13hundreds over the years have you ever been kind of as emotional as that when you when you reach one

03:18um i don't know i i i'm not really sure but i just like i said it's um someone that's impacted

03:26my career personally a huge amount and um i i think just this week the amount of love and support

03:34there's been for for him and for his family and um and everything all the good that's come from it

03:39amount of money that's been raised as well i think it's amazing um and it's it's special that sport can

03:45provide that um so um yeah it was like more than anything was just a a thank you for everything

03:53that he's given the game of cricket for giving english cricket uh on and off the field

03:56vish please and we'll go to the back of the room and then mike hi joe um a lot of your teammates talk

04:02about how um good it is batting with you and how easy and at ease you make them feel what was it like

04:08you know on the flip side bang with brook the way he was well it's always a pleasure like i think

04:13one of the most important things about batting is building a partnership and understanding that

04:19impact that you both have on each other and being able to dovetail well together and we've both got

04:24very contrasting games but i think that works really well in our favor um he obviously plays

04:30slightly more expansively than i do and has got a an amazing array of shots but the amount of pressure

04:36he puts back on opposition the way that he takes calculated risks at the right moments and and can

04:43open a game completely up like he did today you look around there's a deep cover um and you're 250

04:49behind it was remarkable sorry deep long off um to the premier bowlers so it is it's amazing being able

04:57to sort of play second fiddle to that and and watch it just in the best seat in the house um he's an

05:06incredible talent and it's not like he's a one-off uh fluke he's got 10 hundreds and playing in a very

05:11simple manner he's incredibly consistent at it um and there is a there's definitely a huge amount

05:18of method behind what he does um and the impact that it's had on this contest match is well is why

05:23we're we're sat here only needing 35 to win it's been an incredible knock he um he always talks about

05:29not celebrating hundreds or not going over the top because it's his job in his words um that was

05:34probably the most emotional he's been it was yeah he even mentioned that out there um and i don't even

05:40think he knew where it came from but clearly it's been a hard-fought series and it and he's desperate

05:47to to win games of cricket for england it means a huge amount to him and i think that's one of the

05:52rare occasions you've seen how much um it means to him to to play for england and to uh impact a game

05:59for our dressing room thank you back left corner and then we'll go mike mel and john

06:04joe could you talk about um you punched the bat after getting out to prasad uh clearly it's not

06:11prasad but uh what happened in the first innings but could you talk about how the pressure was being

06:17built and how you you didn't kind of succumb to it as such but you kind of got did you get distracted

06:23or how does it happen like something like that when you're well set you played 150 plus balls and

06:28suddenly you have this and also about prasad the bowler yeah i mean it just that scenario we'd

06:34obviously come back out after a rain break and it started to do a little bit more they bowled some

06:38um they bowled really good areas for that period of time and got it moving around and i was more

06:46disappointed i missed out on what i thought i should have gone for four um but prasad's a

06:52proven performer he's you know he's a brilliant player you don't play for it for india as a seamer

06:58um without having a huge amount of talent and um clearly he's going to do great things in the game

07:05but um it wasn't anything between the two of us that sort of um brought that on that was more

07:12frustration from my part for not getting us over the line you know that's what you pride yourself on

07:16as a player as an experienced batter in that situation you've got to be able to absorb pressure

07:20and understand that they're allowed to ball well for periods of time and then when you get your

07:24opportunities to counter that then you take them and i just mis-executed on that occasion um you

07:30know when you're 100 not out you don't expect that from yourself so that was that's where the frustration

07:35came from there was sort of no um overhang from what happened in the first innings or anything

07:41like that mike and john melton joe uh 537 runs in the series 300s number one in the test world rankings

07:51number two in the all-time test run scorers list congratulations for all of that would you swap

07:57it all for a anderson tend to tend to the trophy tomorrow i'd like to think we're gonna you know

08:03we've got what we need to get across the line tomorrow um it's been one hell of a series one hell of a

08:10journey um and you know the confidence in our dressing room clearly we we feel we've got the

08:15players to get us across um across the line but it's you know it's just been one of those sort of

08:23five match six weeks where it's swung both ways the whole time and i think we're in for a great day

08:28tomorrow yeah just on works as far as you know is he going to attempt to back right-handed rather than

08:33turn around and i'm not sure i've not seen him practice yet so you might get a better indication

08:38tomorrow if he has some throw downs in the morning you have to get in early always right and what

08:44about uh his sort of level of pain is he well clearly he's in a huge amount of pain having done

08:50what he's done but um it just shows as we've seen from from other guys within this series you know

08:56pain with a broken foot um guys taking all sorts of blows here and there um but it it means a huge

09:04amount to him and it just shows the character and the person that he is that he's willing to put his

09:08body on the line like that for for england and to hopefully well hopefully he doesn't have to but

09:13if if it does come to that get us across the line and win is an incredible series

09:17i just actually wanted to ask you how you've enjoyed in particular the the contest with muhammad

09:26siraj um we saw you out sort of laughing a lot together almost like pantomime um the way it

09:34was between you just then the iconic moments whether it be at lord's a drop of harry brook and then

09:40takes that catch just what's what's he been like for you he's a character um he's he's always um

09:46but he's he's a warrior you know he's a real warrior he's someone that you want on your team

09:51he's that kind of character um he gives everything for for india and it's you know credit to him for

09:58that the way he approaches cricket um you know he's got this like fake angriness about him sometimes

10:04um which i can see straight through he's you can tell he's actually a really nice lad um but um you

10:11know he tries it incredibly hard he's a very skillful player and um you know he's there's the

10:18reason why he's got the wickets he has is because um one is work ethic and and two is skill level so

10:24um yeah i enjoy playing against him he's always got a big smile on his face and he's he'll give

10:30everything for his team so i guess you couldn't want anything more of that as a fan watching um and a

10:35great example to any young players starting out joe joe here uh how much of an advantage is getting

10:42the heavy roller in tomorrow give you all and there's been a there's a little bit of sympathy

10:46for the fans over here who didn't get to watch the climax but which camp are you in good for those

10:51who get in to watch tomorrow for free or it adds suspense doesn't it so um it's another probably what

10:5712 hours now until we wake up and we can start getting excited about it again clearly everyone that

11:03came today we're still um they can leave knowing they've been thoroughly entertained um and you

11:11know hopefully they've bought a ticket for tomorrow and they get the opportunity to watch it all unfold

11:15tomorrow thank you oh in terms of the roller um we'll see i haven't got a crystal ball unfortunately

11:20but um it has made an impact so far far throughout this game um you know whether that changes on day

11:27five we'll see but um you know hopefully it works well in our favor and flattens things out
