A senior Army officer allegedly assaulted four SpiceJet staff at Srinagar airport on July 26 after being stopped over excess cabin baggage. The officer was carrying 16 kg, well above the 7 kg cabin limit. SpiceJet reported serious injuries to its employees, including a spinal fracture and jaw damage, calling it a “murderous assault.”

00:10This incident coming to the fore from Srinagar airport where two Spice Jet staffers are seriously hurt.
00:17Victims sustained serious spine and jaw injuries. Spice Jet staffers punched, kicked and hit with stand.
00:24These are the visuals. And as per the Spice Jet policy, seven kgs is allowed in the flight.
00:31But the attacker had 16 kgs of luggage. F.I.R. has been lodged against the accused and attacker to be on no-fly list.
00:39Now as per sources, we're learning that Indian Army has also taken note of this particular incident.
00:44And Army sources, as per the Army sources, they are committed to discipline by all ranks.

02:09Anjali, if you note the hypothesis that we have accessed through our sources is that clearly in this particular visual we can see
02:18the Army official was having a verbal spat with his Spice Jet staffer.
02:24This was as the boarding gate of SG386, which means that possibly he was carrying all of this baggage as part of his hand baggage.
02:34And that's when the Spice Jet staffer had asked him to pay up because it was physically extra luggage.
02:42And what we are given to understand that this particular passenger was carrying 16 kg of luggage while the permissible baggage is 7 kg that you can carry.
02:53So he was asking for us to pay up.
02:55This turned into an aggressive verbal spat from the passenger with these Spice Jet staffers.
03:02This turned physical and eventually a full-blown attack on staffers.
03:07What we are given to understand at this point in time that on July 26th when this incident happened,
03:14at least four Spice Jet staffers were attacked.
03:18Two of them have been previously injured.
03:20One has sustained jaw injury.
03:22The other one who has been taken, was taken in a stretcher, had injury in the spine.
03:28And the aggressive passenger, the assaulter, who has been identified as a senior Army officer by the Spice Jet,
03:37can be seen, you know, getting hold of anything he could at the airport
03:41or in order to carry out the attack on these Spice Jet staffers.
03:46Now, as far as the action is concerned, Spice Jet has officially filed an F.I.R. against this passenger.
03:52He has been put on the no-fly list.
03:55The Ministry of Civil Aviation has been apprised about the incident in order to take further action.
04:01Moreover, the CCTV footage of the entire incident has been secured and handed over to the police.
04:06But clearly the attack looks like, as Spice Jet is also terming it,
04:10as a murderous assault on its staffers at the Srinagar airport.
