00:00I have a big breaking news coming in about an air scare on board a SpiceJet aircraft.
00:04What exactly happened? Look at that.
00:06Unruly SpiceJet flyers have been arrested by the CISF.
00:10Two flyers tried to force their way into the cockpit.
00:13This is against security. This can endanger the safety of the passengers.
00:17Both passengers were eventually handed over to the CISF.
00:20That's responsible for security.
00:21I'm going to quote from the SpiceJet statement.
00:2414th July, two unruly passengers were offloaded from the SpiceJet flight.
00:28SG-9282, this is Delhi to Mumbai.
00:32Two attempted to forcefully approach the cockpit.
00:35Caused a disruption while the aircraft was taxing.
00:38So it was on the ground.
00:39However, you cannot simply enter into the cockpit area.
00:44Now this is what we are told according to the statement.
00:46I add here, despite repeated requests by the cabin crew, fellow passengers and the captain,
00:51they refused to return to their seats.
00:55And for the safety of the passengers, the captain decided
00:58that it will return the aircraft to the bay.
01:01Passengers were offloaded, handed over to the CISF.
01:03Let's just listen in first to that video that appears one passenger has captured.
01:08You cannot stop a plane like this.
01:11This is illegal.
01:12You cannot stop a plane.
01:17You can't stop a plane.
01:18Listen, we call CISF.
01:23Yeah, call CISF.
01:24This is illegal what they're doing.
01:26You make sure they fucking get down.
01:30Can gather from the video that even the passengers are angry.
01:43Let's get some clarity on this.
01:45My colleague Nagarjun Dwarkanaat is joining me for the lead test on that.
01:49Also, Amit Bhardwaj is joining me.
01:51Amit, what are you hearing?
01:53What exactly happened?
01:54I can understand there's complete commotion and not just from the pilots and the crew.
01:57Well, Pooja, you know, it seems to be some kind of eek,
02:02missy passengers over possibly the delay in the craft and AC not working.
02:09But what unfolded next was, you know, something that triggered action by the SpiceJet crew
02:16because SpiceJet has very clearly mentioned that these two passengers were not only unruly,
02:23but they also tried to forcibly, you know, approach the cockpit,
02:27something which is completely off-bound for any of the passengers on the craft
02:32and more so because of the heightened safety regime right now.
02:37In any case, you cannot approach the cockpit.
02:39So what we are given to understand that these two passengers were unruly,
02:44forcibly tried to approach the cockpit.
02:46They were, you know, the pilot and the crew tried to make them understand the position
02:52that they cannot carry on with their, you know, approach.
02:56However, when they refused to do so, the pilot took the craft to the bay,
03:01after which these two passengers, unruly passengers, were not only off-loaded,
03:06but they were also handed to the CISF for the further legal action to be taken.
03:12Back to you.
03:12So, Amit, as we stay on with this visual, I want the viewer to let's listen in again
03:19to what exactly happened on board the aircraft.
03:24So, it clearly, what I can gather, what happened in the video was,
03:29even the passengers said, you cannot stop the plane, you cannot behave like this
03:35and we will also ensure that you're also, there is clearly a certain confrontation among passengers,
03:40but Amit, what you're telling us is, they were eventually off-loaded and arrested.
03:45So, this was, I gather, not in Mumbai, where the landing had happened, of the taxing,
03:52but when the flight was taking off in itself.
03:55Yes, yes, in Delhi, Pooja.
03:57So, this was Delhi to Mumbai flight of yesterday, July 14th.
04:02And this is when the unruly passengers, because of their behavior, in fact, if you go through the viral videos,
04:09the other passengers who were on board were also sort of trying to stop them,
04:16were objecting to their unruly behavior and were saying that what these two unruly passengers were doing
04:22was completely illegal and they must be, you know, restrained.
04:27And that was eventually done.
04:29The pilot took the flight to the bay, where both of these unruly passengers, as per SOP,
04:35were off-loaded and handed over to the CISF, too, in order to initiate further legal action.
04:42And, you know, what kind of legal action is being taken right now, that remains unclear,
04:46but it is pretty clear that the crew and the pilot, you know, acted as per the SOP,
04:51because the approach, there was an attempt to possibly approach the cockpit,
04:56which cannot be allowed in any circumstance.
04:59And that's when the entire process of off-loading them and handing over to the CISF was initiated.
05:05Back to you.
05:07Amit, stay on with me.
05:08I'm again quoting, for the benefit of the viewer, what the Spicejet has said.
05:12And we'll try and get a word and more clarity on this.
05:15July 14th, two unruly passengers were off-loaded from the Spicejet flight SG-9282,
05:20operating Delhi to Mumbai.
05:22The two attempted to forcefully approach the cockpit, caused a disruption.
05:26And this is despite them being told they need to return to their seats.
05:31This was when the flight was taxing.
05:33Let's listen in to the video now.
05:35You cannot stop a plane like this.
05:38This is illegal.
05:39Exactly.
05:39You cannot stop a plane.
05:40Exactly.
05:41You can't stop a plane like this.
05:41You can't stop a plane like this.
05:43You can't stop a plane like this.
05:43You can't stop a plane like this.
05:45You can't stop a plane like this.
05:46This is illegal.
05:47Exactly.
05:48You cannot stop a plane.
05:49Exactly.
05:50You can't stop a plane like this.
05:52You can't stop a plane.
05:53You can't stop a plane.
05:54You can't stop a plane like this.
05:55This is illegal.
05:56Exactly.
05:57You cannot stop a plane.
05:59Exactly.
06:00You can't stop a plane.
06:01You cannot stop a plane like this.
06:10This is illegal.
06:12You cannot stop a plane.
06:17Listen, you box the ISM.
06:22I don't know what they are doing.
06:26It is important to understand that taxing specifically of an aircraft needs some stringent security protocols.
06:46You are not even allowed to get up from your seats.
06:48And you can understand there is some confrontation commotion that is happening.
06:52Amit Bhardwaj continues to be with us.
06:54Amit, I realize there is, from what I hear, a woman primarily who either wants to get down,
07:00a man saying you cannot just stop a plane like that.
07:03This could have turned into a serious emergency situation.
07:06Well, absolutely right, Pooja.
07:09In fact, if you put here to the conversation and the objections from the other passengers as well,
07:15they are saying that if you don't want to fly and disrupt the flight, you must be devoted.
07:21These are the words that we can hear in the video as well, which essentially means that other passengers are also, you know,
07:30objecting to the kind of behavior that these two unruly passengers were conducting themselves on the craft.
07:37And the other passengers also were concerned because of their behavior, unruly approach, possible approach towards the cockpit.
07:45And that is when the, as for the SOP, you know, action was taken by the crew and the pilot,
07:52first taking it to a situation where the entire, the stretch does not get, you know, blocked.
07:59So that is why the pilot took the craft to the bay.
08:02And after that, CISF was alerted about the incident, they were offloaded, handed over to the CISF.
08:09So considering the kind of heightened security measures that we are, we already have the regime,
08:15sort of is at the peak of alertness right now, the civil aviation ecosystem.
08:21And at that point in time, this kind of behavior, unruly behavior, even an attempt to approach the cockpit
08:27is something that would trigger the alarm.
08:30Rightly said, Amit, there's already a high alert when it comes to especially our aircraft right now.
08:36And in the backdrop of that such a confrontation, just when a flight is about to take off,
08:40they've been offloaded, arrested by the CISF for now.
08:43We do not know their identities, but it's a reminder that the tempers really need to be kept calm,
08:48at least at a time when you're in the aircraft.
