Nicola Benedetti & Brian Cox launch the 2025 Edinburgh International Festival

00:00I'm on the Royal Mile on the first day of the Edinburgh International Festival.

00:05The festival was launched by some famous faces, including the Scottish legend that is Brian Popp

00:11and festival director for three years running Nicola Benedetti.

00:15The festival this year welcomes artists from 42 different countries across the world

00:21and features seven world premieres.

00:24One of those is, of course, the hotly anticipated play Make It Happen

00:29about Scotland's role in the 2008 financial crash.

00:33Make It Happen was written by James Graham and stars Brian Popp as Adam Smith,

00:38the father of capitalism, along with many other amazing artists who we know from our streams.

00:45I was lucky enough to go along and see a sneak preview of the play

00:48ahead of its official world premiere tonight, and it looked absolutely brilliant.
