Relentless rains have lashed several parts of the country, leaving many areas flooded. While the IMD has predicted above-normal rain may occur in September.
00:00Relentless rains have battered most parts of India over the last few days, as per the Indian Med Department.
00:06Heavy rains are expected to continue.
00:09In September, rainfall is likely to be above normal over the country during the second half of the southwest mountain season.
00:17Rains have brought respite, though, to the Delhi NCR region,
00:20recording the cleanest air in the month of July in an entire decade.
00:25But traditionally, wettest regions are grappling with rainfall deficits.
00:28Rainfall distribution so far in 2025 has shown disparities across different states,
00:35creating both concerns and optimism depending on the region.
00:39Dramatically, this year, the rainfall pattern has been notably uneven,
00:44with significant deficits reported in many regions,
00:46especially in the northeastern states, traditionally known for heavy monsoon showers.
00:58This is the result of the

03:03as soon as people who are trapped in the water, they are trying to get out of here.
03:07The rescue team of NDRF and SDRF is also trying to help.
03:13But now the water is very strong, that the team has not reached there.
03:21All right, I'm telling you a little about what's happening in the Jammu and Kashmir region
03:38where the Amarnath Yatra has been suspended as heavy rain lashes this entire region.
03:42We've been telling you about various parts of the country.
03:45The pictures on your screen are from Shifuri in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
03:49There have been rainfalls which are in fact in excess in states like Meghalaya, for example,
03:54in the northeastern part of the country, usually receiving more rainfall
03:57and considered the rainiest part really of the world has seen a deficit in monsoons.
04:03As far as rains and the weather is concerned, good news for all of us in the Delhi and Siyad region
04:08given that the air quality index has also improved significantly,
04:11so much so that we've never had clean air as this in the last one decade or so.
04:19Meer Farid is joining us for more details.
04:22He is in Srinagar and the Amarnath Yatra, of course, has been suspended there
04:27because of the rains in Jammu and Kashmir.
04:30It's a big concern.
04:31Talk to us about the kind of arrangements, alternate arrangements that have been made for the Yatris
04:35and how this has really played spoiled sport this time around.
04:39Meer.
04:39Well, yes.
04:44In fact, on 3rd of July, the Yatra started and the numbers were very good for the first 10 days
04:50because the weather was fine.
04:51It was favorable.
04:53Previous years, we've seen because of bad weather and rains, landslides and other issues,
04:58Yatra used to get suspended.
04:59But this year, the first part was good.
05:02But off late, last one week has seen intermittent, very heavy rains.
05:07And this has also lashed to the Yatra route, speed, Baltal or Pehlgaam.
05:11And then yesterday, Yatra had to be suspended.
05:14Now, today as well, from the Baltal route, the Yatra was allowed.
05:18But from the Pehlgaam route, it remains suspended because of bad weather, which the rain, which
05:23has led to track getting damaged and the repair work has been undertaken.
05:30Overall, it has been a year of extreme weather variations.
05:34If we talk about Kashmir, we saw unprecedented heat for a long stretch in June.
05:41And then suddenly the weather took a turn.
05:43And since it's been raining.
05:44So while the experts say that this is being attributed to global warming, climate change
05:49phenomena, which is affecting places across the world, and Kashmir, North India has also
05:54seen it, we're seeing heavy rains in between spills of very hot weather and then again rain.
05:59So this is what the May Department has predicted.
06:02And for the next at least three to four days, the weather is going to remain erratic.
06:06And this is not only for Jammut Kashmir, but also for Himachal, Delhi, in fact, also Uttarakhand,
06:11hilly areas of Uttarakhand.
06:13So this is the weather advisory.
06:15And gusty winds and windstorms may also be accompanied by heavy rain.
06:22So that is what the May Department is saying.
06:24And people living in mountainous bales in areas which are hilly have been told to exercise
06:31caution, adhere to weather advisories because there could be flash flooding and also mudslides
06:37and landslides.
06:38Leaving it to that for the moment, we're getting asked those details and telling us about the
06:42situation there.
06:43Meanwhile, pictures, in fact, we put out just a few moments ago are from different parts
06:48of the country which are reeling under heavy rains.
06:51And of course, civic mess is the story that always really follows.
06:54Moving on, much of the Pacific world, including Siberian Russia and the west coast of Russia,
07:00continues to be on tenterhooks after yesterday's monster earthquake measuring 8.8 on the Richter scale.
07:07Parts of the North Pacific were rattled by powerful aftershocks on Thursday.
07:11The day after, one of the strongest earthquakes ever recorded struck.
07:16Come Chhatka cry off the coast of Russia.
07:19Dozens of aftershocks have been recorded since Wednesday's quake.
07:23Five were notably strong, registering a magnitude above six.
07:27Most were recorded off Russia's far east.
07:29The strongest is a 6.9 magnitude earthquake.
07:33It struck the Kamchatka Peninsula late last night.
07:37Yesterday's earthquake, among the strongest ever, had triggered tsunami alerts all across
07:42the ring of fire.
07:43The entire region, Russia, Hawaii, Japan and the American western coast states of Oregon,
07:49California, Washington, China, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Chile, Peru,
07:55had all issued alerts of varying degrees.
07:57That's the ring of fire you have on your screens at this point in time.
