OpenAI on Tuesday launched a new feature called Study Mode in ChatGPT, according to Gizmodo. The new mode is aimed at encouraging deeper learning through interactive, step-by-step problem solving. The tool is available to Free, Plus, Pro, and Team users, and will soon expand to ChatGPT Edu accounts used on college campuses. OpenAI says Study Mode engages students through interactive, guided questions tailored to their goals and skill levels to encourage deeper understanding. Unlike passive content copying, the tool aims to keep users mentally active using a quasi-Socratic approach. OpenAI acknowledged that the AI industry has contributed to a rise in automated cheating in schools and emphasized the need to support real learning. The company said Study Mode was developed with input from educators and experts to ensure it aligns with human-centered educational goals.
