00:00Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Hall of Fame second baseman Ryan Sandberg.
00:04Sandberg, 65, passed away today at his home, surrounded by his family,
00:07following a hard-fought battle with cancer, the greatest Cubs of all time.
00:11He became a Hall of Famer, not by doing the spectacular at any given moment,
00:16but by being consistently excellent for a long period of time.
00:19He was a 5-2 player. He won nine gold gloves at second base,
00:23I think all of them consecutively. He was a 10-time All-Star.
00:27He was the MVP of the National League in 1984.
00:30He was the signature player of that era in Cubs history.
00:33And he was more a consistently excellent fundamental player than he was a spectacular player.
00:39Everything you could want a ball player to do fundamentally, he did.
00:42Really good hitter, good defender, good base runner.
00:44He was a scary player to play against because he had that great power.
00:48And he was one of the first, like, big second basers.
00:50Yes. One of the things that we got a chance to do when Rhino was the manager of the Philadelphia Phillies,
00:55we went out to Arizona, and he had this beautiful house.
00:57And this place was a shrine.
01:00It was like going into the Hall of Fame with all the awards that he had,
01:04the MVPs, the gold gloves that you talked about.
01:06He was a wonderful man.
01:08And we are better that we've gotten a chance to know him.
01:11It's just an excellence as a ball player and just a wonderful guy.
01:18A lot of kids in the Chicago area named Ryan.
01:21This has been kind of a disastrous start for Miz.
01:23And two runs come in to score.
01:24The Cubs on top three to nothing.
01:27The Brewers have put up four runs in the third.
01:29They've got the lead.
01:30Four to three, Milwaukee.
01:32One-two pitch.
01:33And a fly ball left center field.
01:34This is gone!
01:37What a pickup he's been.
01:38Another big fly for Andrew Vaughn.
01:39Fly ball, deep right, bye-bye baseball!
01:43Brewers flexing their muscles.
01:44Yellich drills it deep in the right.
01:46This is way back.
01:46Tucker looking.
01:47Top of the wall, it's gone!
01:49The Brewers have homered in three consecutive innings.
01:52And with one out, they've got runners at the corners for Shohei Ohtani.
01:55Ohtani smacks a line drive to deep center field.
01:57Frida won't get there.
01:58Two-run tie-rape, tie-breaking double for Shohei Ohtani.
02:02What a start by the Dodgers' Yamamoto.
02:04Yeah, with a fastball split, an occasional breaking ball,
02:06only two walks and nine punches.
02:08And the Dodgers have set up shot first and second.
02:10Nobody out for Teoscar.
02:11Ripped into left center field, a base hit for Hernandez.
02:14Ground ball right side, and welcome to the table, Freddie Freeman.
02:17And with two outs in the ninth inning, you're at a spot now where one of the gap
02:19could very well tie this ball game up.
02:21Ground ball up the middle.
02:22Mookie Betts is there.
02:23Over to first.
02:24That's the game.
02:25Never a doubt.
02:26Five-to-two, the Dodgers.
02:29He got it here with a win.
02:30So now the merry-go-round will be in motion.
02:32Three-two to Vientos, and he flies one out to right field.
02:34This one's deep.
02:35It's out of here!
02:36North Vientos with an opposite field grand slam!
02:39Lisa Rye is now standing in.
02:40It is on the ball!
02:42And gone!
02:43Padres right back in, and it's 5-3.
02:45And he hits one in the air to deep right center.
02:47And this game is tied!
02:49Johnny Mauricio for the second straight night!
02:51Two on and two out in the bottom of the ninth inning.
02:53Line to left center field.
02:55It's in for a big set!
02:55The throw is up the line!
02:57Padres walk it off!
02:59Elias Diaz!
03:00And a guy with great bat speed stepping in.
03:03Potential for fireworks, sounds like.
03:04And a high fly ball back into deep left.
03:07Dominguez will go to the track, to the wall.
03:09That baby's gone!
03:10Home run off the bat of Junior Cabanero.
03:13Line into center for a base hit.
03:14Josh Lowe with a base hit up the middle, and the Rays take a 3-2 lead.
03:18Fly ball right center field.
03:19DeLuca on the run, back to its left, still going.
03:20He makes the running catch up to the wall.
03:23He climbs up onto it, and the Rays have won it in the Bronx.
03:26So in this situation, you've got a left-hander against a left-hander.
03:28They just don't hit the ball hard against him.
03:30He puts a charge into one.
03:31Deep to right, and it's gone!
03:34Colson Montgomery ties it up for the Sox.
03:37He's aboard with one out, and that'll bring up Luis Robert Jr.
03:402-1.
03:41Robert with a high fly ball in the right field corner.
03:44And Robert with a two-run shot!
03:46It's the first time since April 6th that Sanchez has allowed four runs in a game.
03:50Mullins and Mayo mashing and mashing.
03:54Back-to-back home runs for a 3-0 lead.
03:57First and second, nobody out, and here comes Adley.
03:59A ringing double for Rutsman, and it's 5-3 Baltimore.
04:02Welcome back, Adley!
04:04Lujays have one back, and now trails 6-4.
04:06Lucas takes a 3-1 change up to center.
04:09It just keeps flying out there, and Mullins plucks it out of the sky!
04:12No way!
04:13Yes way!
04:14Are you kidding me?
04:162-0 Detroit as we start at the bottom of the fourth.
04:18Andy Ibanez doubled and scored his first time.
04:21Andy Ibanez left field, and out of here!
04:24AI keeps getting better!
04:27Dylan Dingler attacks this, high and deep to left.
04:30This one's out of here!
04:315-0 Tigers in the sixth.
04:32That is seven scoreless from young Troy Melton in his Comerica Park debut.
04:38Kind of shows what we've built together as a family in that clubhouse,
04:42and how close we are, and how much each other means to each other.
04:44It just fit with how we were thinking about this team.
04:47We're not turning the page on 2025.
04:49We're very much in this.
04:51468 feet as that ball took a bath in the Kansas City Fountain.
04:55A big fly for the Big Bear!
04:57And Atlanta is on top here in the fourth inning, 4-2.
05:01It's another homer, third of the night for Atlanta.
05:03Austin Riley strikes one out, and that is his first home run
05:07since coming back from the injured list.
05:08In fact, it's his first hit.
05:09It's a bases-clearing double for Austin Riley,
05:13and the Braves have opened it up in the eighth.
05:15Herrera out number two, so two ground ball outs.
05:17Donovan and Herrera, and Burleson will bat.
05:18Burleson, a line drive to center.
05:20Myers back!
05:21It's gone!
05:23Burleson hits one to center again,
05:25and the Cardinals have broken through.
05:26It's one to nothing.
05:27Now have the bases loaded.
05:28That brings in Mason Wynn.
05:29Swing, drive down the line.
05:30Did he keep it fair?
05:32Yes, he did!
05:33What a big swing of the bat by Mason Wynn.
05:36And the Cardinals lead sixth and epic.
05:38Now he'll face the newest Mariners face.
05:40Josh Naylor wallops this out to right.
05:42Josh Naylor's first home run as a Mariner
05:44gives them the early lead.
05:46Here's Cal, 0-2 on the night.
05:47Wide left field, base hit.
05:49Headlock slide, he's safe!
05:50Cal Raleigh with his 87th.
05:52One bad and in this year, what a year for Cal.
05:54Mariners three is one, bases loaded.
05:56Swing and a ground ball to third.
05:57Diving stopped by Williamson.
05:58Ben Williamson saves the day.
06:00Here comes Andrew McCutcheon.
06:01Whoa, you got something?
06:03You got a home run from Andrew McCutcheon.
06:05His tenth to give the Pirates the lead.
06:07The eleventh player in baseball history.
06:10Hit ten or more in his first 17 big league seasons.
06:13Out away from a Pirates victory.
06:16The possible time run lead now at second base.
06:18So now here is Patrick Bailey.
06:20Bouncing ball right side.
06:21And on the first, raise the jolly roger.
06:25Swung on and driven.
06:26High and deep.
06:27In the left center field.
06:28And is back.
06:28And is out of here!
06:31A three-run homer.
06:33And the Red Sox lead it.
06:35So still loaded up for Brooks Lee.
06:37Line to left field.
06:38Slicing and that's a fair ball.
06:40Gasper scores.
06:41Castro scores.
06:42And the Twins win in walk-off fashion.
06:44Brooks Lee does it again.
06:46Five-four in the final.
06:47Hunter Goodman 0 for three tonight.
06:49This ball is hammered to deep left.
06:52And it's a one-run game.

06:56Second and third one out by five.
06:58Top of nine.

07:05Six-five Colorado.
07:07Have a night against your former club, Tyler Freeman.
07:10A three-RBI night.
07:12Here's DeGrom's pitch.
07:13And this ball is blasted by Newman out into deep left center field.
07:17It's out by the wall.
07:18And that one is out of here.
07:21Taylor Ward against Jacob DeGrom.
07:22There's a fly ball left center field.
07:23This is it well.
07:24After it is Langford out near the wall.
07:26It is gone.
07:27Taylor Ward breaks the tie.
07:29Luis Renjifo.
07:30That ball pelted toward the right.
07:31Back forward is Garcia.
07:32Ranging out toward the wall.
07:34And it's gone.
07:35Home run Renjifo.
07:36Runners first and second and one out.
07:38Alex Cole the batter.
07:39Got him.

07:45Breaking ball.
07:45Hit into right.
07:46A long way to go for Trammell.
