00:00I'm in Huntsville, Alabama at adult space camp! Most people think of space camp you think about
00:11it for children and this is adult space camp and it's everything you would imagine it would be.
00:18First things first you register then you get your room assignment and then you get your space
00:23uniform and that's when it all becomes official. You have the option to sleep in dorms which they
00:29call habitat one and habitat two. Next is orientation. We met a real-life astronaut Don Thomas.
00:36So space is a really fun comfortable environment to be in. He had four missions in space and he told
00:41his wonderful story about simply chasing his dream. It took him four times to apply for NASA. Before our
00:49very first mission assignment we experienced the multi-axis trainer and that simulates us coming
00:56back into Earth's atmosphere and just spinning out of control. So it was extremely fun but if that
01:02really happened in life I don't think that would be as fun. We learned about what our mission would be
01:08and then we made rockets and that was quite interesting too. So there's 17 members in our
01:15team and our very first mission we were given assignments of what we would do and I was mission
01:22specialist one. We're going to start mission number one. It was actually the best assignment of all.
01:31I got to dress up in an actual astronaut suit the helmet and everything and I was assigned to fix
01:38the satellite so you can thank me that your direct tv works. It's 90 degrees here in hutsville
01:47Alabama for day two of space camp. It started off with the team photo which was so cool because
01:54we all just nerded out. We went and shot our rockets. Remember our rockets from the first day?
01:58We shot our rockets and it was so cool. Hard hats shoot those rockets to the sky. Mine failed terribly
02:05but it was just fun. It totally brought out the kid in me. After that we came back for our three
02:10our mission to Mars. Three, two, one. My role was SOCOM and what that means is that I was in charge of
02:21the team that was going in the capsule to Mars. Along the way we were thrown anomalies. Anomalies are
02:27just things that weren't really planned out and of course we all ended with graduation. Just a few days
02:33ago we all started off as just regular working American adults. People came from all over the country
02:40from California to Louisiana just to participate in this weekend. Not really knowing that much about
02:46what the weekend entailed and now we all left as real space camp graduates. Uniform and all.
03:02We've been cleared for landing.
