00:05passing July 24th at age 71, the singer spoke out about their complex bond, including their
00:11estrangement amid his health struggles in his final years. Brooke wrote in a post on Instagram
00:15July 29th, We never had a big fight. My father and I never fought. It was a series of private
00:21phone calls no one will ever hear, know or understand. My father was confiding in me
00:26about issues weighing on his heart, both personal and business. Brooke explained that she encouraged
00:30the wrestling star to take care of himself after accompanying him to almost 25 surgeries,
00:35which she said he later decided he no longer wanted her present for. She went on,
00:40It was like there was a force field around him that I couldn't get through. He was telling me
00:43these things, being so vulnerable with me, and heard my pleas. Then suddenly something shifted,
00:48and he made a choice to walk the path that clearly tore at his spirit. From there, Brooke said she
00:53and her dad had respectful disagreements that took an emotional toll on her, which coupled with her
00:57high-risk pregnancy, led her to step away from her relationship with Hulk. She noted,
01:02I know in my heart I did everything I could. He knew I would run through a burning building for him,
01:06and in many ways along the path of life, I did. He knows how deeply, how hard, and how purely I loved
01:11him. I am at peace knowing this. Back in March, Brooke's mom, Linda Hogan, who was married to Hulk from
01:161983 to 2009, alleged that her daughter had a huge fight with Terry, adding,
01:21I don't know how that reflected onto me, but she cut me out too. Shortly thereafter, Brooke responded
01:27to her mom in a post on social media, writing that her heart hurts every day over their estrangement,
01:32before adding that she was doing the work in order to break the chain. She concluded,
01:36I want so much be able to enjoy what's important. My children and my life I have worked so hard to
01:41create and protect, and I hope everyone can give me the chance to do that without injecting any more
01:46poison into it.
