01:13:16You and I have talked in the past.

01:13:17We've talked about your hearing disability.

01:13:19But today, I want to talk about Alexis King.

01:13:22I see the look on your face.

01:13:23I know it's Alexis King.

01:13:24But the things he said, the things he has done, it has to hurt you just a little bit.

01:13:30Alexis King, he's just stirring the pot.

01:13:33Contrary to what Alexis believes, I am mostly deaf.

01:13:36I was born with persistent pulmonary hypertension, Vic.

01:13:39You know, I was actually med-flighted immediately to a hospital in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

01:13:43And on that flight, I flatlined twice.

01:13:46So the doctors only gave me a 50% chance to live.

01:13:48And my family, they knew this.

01:13:50And they had to take into consideration that I might not make it.

01:13:53So they had me put on a machine that would keep me alive.

01:13:56Because as my mom said, nothing was working.

01:13:58Now that machine, by the grace of God, when they unplugged it,

01:14:03my heart started working on its own for the very first time.

01:14:06Now, that machine was called a ventilator.

01:14:08And that ventilator had radiation.

01:14:10And the radiation, although it's kept me alive, it also took 90% of my bilateral hearing.

01:14:15What exactly does that mean?

01:14:18So basically, it means that I lost 90% hearing in both ears, Vic.

01:14:22Well, growing up, it must have been difficult.

01:14:24But it still has to be a struggle to communicate.

01:14:29Communication has never really been my thing, Vic.

01:14:31You know, at a young age, I had to teach myself how to read lips.

01:14:34I didn't start speaking until I was four years old.

01:14:37Now, I won't do this to you.

01:14:38But growing up, I used to grab my parents' face and point them towards me so I could read their lips.

01:14:43And in car rides, I would even have them put the rearview mirror on their faces

01:14:46so that I could understand what they're saying while we're driving.

01:14:48So reading lips is basically like a cheat code for me.

01:14:51It helped me communicate and understand.

01:14:54Lips, hand movement, body language, anything and everything helps.

01:14:57Look, man, you have such a great perspective on everything that you've been through through life.

01:15:02What did you say, Vic?

01:15:03I'm just messing with you.

01:15:07You see, I choose to have fun with this.

01:15:09That's the way you got to deal with things in life.

01:15:11There's always going to be someone like a lesser king, someone who doesn't get it or don't believe you.

01:15:16And the truth is, you can't let people like that win because then they have power over you.

01:15:21What you got to do is you got to keep moving forward with your life, keep moving forward with your day,

01:15:24and block people like that out.
