00:00In 2017, at the Walker County Jail in Alabama, a man named Bradley Allen pulled off a prison
00:06escape that sounds like a mix between a cartoon and a genius-level prank.
00:12Bradley was a 24-year-old inmate being held for multiple charges.
00:17He wasn't violent or dangerous, but he was clever and bored. So with time on his hands,
00:24he began studying the prison's routines, especially the guard rotations and door numbers.
00:30Now here's where it gets strange.
00:34The jail had metal doors, each labeled with a number painted in peanut butter brown,
00:39and inmates were given peanut butter with their meals.
00:43One day, Bradley saved a glob of peanut butter, waited until no one was watching,
00:49and smeared it over the number plate of a cell door, making it look like a completely different door.
00:55That door happened to be the one leading outside.
00:58Then, when a new guard started his shift, Bradley waited by the door and shouted,
01:05Hey man, open door 23.
01:09The guard, seeing what he thought was cell 23 on the surveillance screen,
01:13hit the button and unknowingly opened the door to the outside.
01:17Bradley simply walked out.
01:19When the guards realized he was missing, it triggered a full lockdown.
01:33But by then, Bradley was long gone.
01:36He made it several miles before being caught the next day, hiding in a nearby home.
01:40The sheriff told reporters, It may sound crazy, but yes, he escaped using peanut butter.
01:49After his capture, Bradley laughed about it in court, telling the judge,
01:53I just wanted to see if I could do it.
01:56He now faces additional years in prison and probably doesn't get peanut butter with lunch anymore.
02:03But I always wanted to see if they were in prison.
02:04But he's in prison.
02:04Thank you for now.
