00:00A Trent aircraft turbine can move more than 1,000 kilograms of air every second, generating immense thrust.
00:08Its design allows it to rotate more slowly, improving fuel efficiency and extending the time between maintenance.
00:16Aircraft equipped with it can fly farther and more reliably.
00:20At Rolls-Royce's site in Dallavitz, just outside Berlin, turbines for commercial jets like the Boeing 787 and Airbus' A350 are serviced.
00:34Engines for aircraft are also developed, assembled and maintained here.
00:42Rolls-Royce has already invested 6 billion euros in Dallavitz.
00:47This year, it is adding another 30 million and hiring 100 new skilled workers to meet soaring demand from the aviation and defense sectors.
01:01Our order books are full.
01:05We are currently in a very resilient position, more resilient and healthier as a company than we were before COVID.
01:13But in order to achieve growth, we must of course invest now.
01:17And we are doing so in the civil and military sectors.
01:22The site also builds smaller engines for business jets.
01:32These dual-use engines power business jets that militaries convert and refurbish for surveillance and reconnaissance use.
01:39This saves time and money compared to developing new planes and engines.
01:44This is then used in concert with NATO partners in Europe.
01:53Internationally, there are currently around 70 aircraft that have already been converted in this way and are also flying.
02:00And we expect this market to double in the next six years due to international global armament.
02:07Skilled workers are not in short supply here.
02:14Staff at Dallavitz come from over 50 countries.
02:17But not everyone gets access to the defense side.
02:21Employees with Russian or Iranian citizenship do not get security clearance required to work on dual-use engines.
