00:16been evacuated from the capital city we were notified to evacuate at 3 a.m. this
00:23morning thankfully our village party secretary was still awake otherwise our
00:28village would have been flooded too he's very responsible it's just the roads
00:35were washed out everyone it's safe
00:41authorities say this is one of the worst rainstorms in recent years roads are
00:46flooded power is out in over 130 villages and many homes are damaged in Mian
00:52floodwaters swept away cars and made roads impossible rescue teams use
00:58boats and machines to evacuate people and even rescued 48 residents from a care
01:03center Chinese president Xi Jinping has urged officials to prepare for the worst
01:09and act quickly to protect lives the government has released emergency funds
01:14to help affected areas and support relief efforts meanwhile landslides in her Bay
01:20province killed four people and eight others are still missing flood alerts are
01:25in place for many regions with warnings to avoid dangerous areas experts say
01:30climate change is making extreme weather events more frequent and severe many
01:36villagers say they have never seen flooding like this in their lifetime I'm
01:42almost 70 years old I have never seen so much water before we did some
01:47preparations but we had no idea that they would be this much China now faces the
01:54challenge of recovery rescue and rebuilding
